Instructional Faculty - Steamboat Christian Academy

JOB DESCRIPTION

Instructional Faculty – (1) Early Childhood, Elementary; (2) Upper Elementary

Steamboat Christian Academy (SCA) is seeking an exceptional early elementary classroom teacher who combines academic excellence with a Christ-centered worldview to provide students with a safe, engaging, and Godly environment in which to grow and learn. SCA teachers will partner with parents and other SCA staff to provide students with physical, academic, and spiritual support and guidance. Together, we will empower our students to be successful in school and provide them with a strong foundation for future growth. Classroom experience is preferred, but not required. A calling to teaching is desired along with a passion for Christian Education.

Faculty members at Steamboat Christian Academy (SCA) are charged with pursuing the SCA Mission which is to glorify God by providing an excellent academic environment rooted in the word so that our students grow to understand their unique identity in Christ Jesus. They will develop their God given talents and be challenged to use these in the academic environment, community, and beyond, as leaders for Christ. Students will engage in critical thinking through a Biblical lens, explore curiosities and live intentionally with enthusiasm for Christ.

SCA Faculty live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction and interactions with students, parents, and team members. SCA Faculty are not only masters of the curriculum, but they see each student as a unique individual to be known and loved.

Steamboat Christian Academy is a non-profit school, located in Steamboat Springs, Co. We are led by our Head of School, who works alongside the board of directors to carry out the mission and vision of SCA and ensure excellence. The SCA team is composed of highly qualified educators. Our teachers care deeply about pouring into their students - academically, spiritually, and physically so that they may become the best version of themselves and become leaders, who have confidence in Christ.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND DESIRED COMPETENCIES

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline closely related to the subjects to be taught

Advanced Degree in a related area is preferred

Solid biblical and theological foundation and understanding, and an eagerness to learn spiritually Desire to teach within Christian Classical education; teaching certification or licensure preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The same basic physical demands described here are the same for all employees to successfully perform the essential functions of their jobs. Employees must periodically lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and could occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.

HOURS PER WEEK: Full-time, Exempt

Daily hours roughly: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm on campus M-Th, Fridays 8:00 am - 2:00 pm Instructional hours: 8:45 am - 2:15 pm, Fridays 8:45 am - 12:15 pm
