Job description

Bishop O'Connell High School, located in Arlington, VA, is seeking a mission-driven Christian Service Coordinator to lead and grow our Christian Service program, helping students live out the Gospel call to serve others.
Reporting to the School Chaplain, the Christian Service Coordinator plays a vital role in campus ministry, guiding students through their service requirements while fostering a deeper understanding of the corporal Works of Mercy and how to live their faith. This position combines program administration, student mentorship, and communications work within a vibrant Catholic school community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and administer the Christian Service program, including tracking the 10-hour service requirement for every student
  • Help students identify and secure meaningful service opportunities
  • Visit classrooms to teach students about the value of Christian service and encourage timely completion of hours
  • Grade and provide feedback on student service reflections
  • Support Sophomore Retreats by identifying service sites, coordinating logistics, and partnering with the Sophomore Retreat Coordinator
  • Coordinate Mission Trips
  • Manage Campus Ministry communications, including running social media accounts, promoting events, and keeping the school website updated with retreat and ministry information
  • Collaborate closely with the School Chaplain, Dean of Academics, Director of Campus Ministry, Campus Ministry Administrative Assistant, and Service Trip Coordinators

Compensation
Salary range is $50,000-$70,000, commensurate with experience. Full benefits offered. Meaningful work, service oriented and respectful work environment, work-life balance, generous leave, including paid FML, medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 403(b) and retirement plans.

We're looking for a candidate with a heart for ministry, strong organizational skills, good technology skills, and the ability to connect with high school students. Experience in campus ministry, youth ministry, religious education, or a related field is preferred. A commitment to the Catholic faith and mission of Catholic education is essential.
