Census Development

In today's competitive market, maintaining census and occupancy as care patterns change is a crucial aspect of your facility's success. Why? Census development drives revenue. Also, because rehabilitation programs are a significant referral draw for senior care communities, it is increasingly important that you're able to attract census by demonstrating positive clinical outcomes

Census Development includes:

  • Assistance with the development of a comprehensive marketing plan
  • Partnership with Select Medical's referral network of local physicians
  • Presentations by clinical specialists who are leaders in the field
  • Joint marketing calls to potential referral sources
  • Participation in hospital pre-admission assessments
  • Case study reports for referral success
  • Participation in industry associations and conferences

Company Job Description

Directs and implements census development strategies for the assigned hospital(s). Responsible for establishing results-producing relationships with the referral community including physicians, case managers and payers. Educates team members and referral sources about rehabilitation services as related to industry changes, specific hospital clinical programs and capabilities, clinical outcomes and appropriate patient referrals/admissions. Provides oversight to the pre-admission function.

Job Duties

  • Provides leadership and direction to all aspects of the Business Development/Marketing department.
  • Develops both short and long term plans to accomplish departmental objectives/goals.
  • Partners with the hospital CEO and Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) to develop and execute quarterly marketing plans and actions that ensure established targets are achieved.
  • Collaborates with internal physicians and CEOs to develop strategic initiatives that drive new business. Works closely with the internal physicians and CEOs to help resolve barriers for admissions and/or business opportunities.
  • Supports the pre-admissions function to assure that the rehabilitation hospital is responsive to the needs of the referring hospital, referral sources and patients.
  • Directs and mentors direct reports and works collaboratively to hire and support the Nurse Liaison team and holds them accountable to develop relationships with key referrers at assigned hospital that translate into admissions.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO), ensures effective communication and coordination between Nurse Liaisons, Sales Coordinators and the Admissions Department.
  • Builds relationships with referring physicians, case managers, therapists, administrators and nurses to increase awareness of services and promote business opportunities. Maintains database of key referral sources.
Qualifications

Must be a registered nurse or occupational therapist or physical therapist.

Bachelor's degree in either Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing or a clinical field (Masters preferred)

5+ years of marketing/sales experience and supervision experience

Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and regulatory standards

Proven success in relationship development and training/mentoring of team members

 Must have a strong clinical background!!!

Compensation Notes:

$85K-$100k Depending on experience and last salary

+ Up to a 20% Commission Bonus.
