Company Description

The Category Advisor serves as a key customer-facing contact for Red Bull's Category Advisory team, providing category expertise and strategic guidance for the Energy Drink category across main placement (back-of-store/future consumption). This individual will be responsible for assisting the Sr. Category Advisor in providing best-in-class category leadership to their assigned retailer as well as helping upskill junior member team member(s). 

The successful candidate will have advanced working knowledge of the resources and tools required to help execute the assigned retailer's modular process, create/present/assist in category strategy reviews, manage complex ad hoc analysis requests, etc. This individual will be able to provide strategic and ongoing holistic category and shopper recommendations to the retailer Buyer.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the strategic customer lead for assigned retailer, acting as Red Bull's senior partner in shaping multi-year category growth agendas for the Front-End

Develop and champion a long-term vision for Front End total single serve beverage solutions that enhance convenience, drive incremental purchases, and improve overall trip conversion.

Influence future assortment and modular strategies to expand energy's presence, increase market share of total single serve beverage and optimize productivity across Front End

Shape the future design, placement, and execution standards for impulse single serve beverage category destinations that elevate the shopper experience and drive profitable growth

Anticipate evolving competitive dynamics and proactively develop strategies that increase category productivity while supporting sustainable growth of the Energy segment and total single serve beverages.

Identify emerging shopper, category, and retail trends to inform future growth strategies and create competitive advantages for assigned retailer and Red Bull.

Assist in the development of holistic, strategic category recommendations taking into account consumer and market trends, assortment, space, merchandising, etc.

Customer service and start-up mindset, eager to elevate the entire Energy Drink Category utilizing a shopper-first approach

Create and lead shopper and category centric presentations, founded in research and data analysis that support the retailer's category performance objectives

Leverage Shopper and Consumer insights to identify key shopper groups or purposes within the channel to inform Walmart growth strategies

Apply third party research resources (including Luminate Customer Perception, Numerator, Mintel, Kantar, etc.) to inform and direct strategy for the retailer and the category

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing/interpreting data and creating best in class retailer strategies
  • 3 to 5 years of experience of customer-facing Category Management (Category Advisor/Captain strongly preferred)
  • Expert analytical and data interpreting skills; ability to effectively teach, upskill and mentor junior team members
  • Strong communication and superior story telling skills using multiple sources such as primary and secondary research, loyalty card and/or shopper panel as well as syndicated point of sale data (Circana/Nielsen)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to deliver clear and concise information to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to influence and persuade others
  • Strong working knowledge of JDA (Space Planning) and advanced MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) including pivot tables, slicers, and formulas to automate and add value to reporting, strong working knowledge of database systems; Tableau/Power PI a plus
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, highly organized, ability to multitask and work in a team-oriented environment
  • Scintilla experience a preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

This position is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or individuals who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a valid visa.

The base salary range for this position is $92,000 - $138,000 + cash incentives. Actual salary offers may vary based on work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
