Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, Inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform one or more of the following operations in the manufacturing of an aluminum knuckle for automobiles:
    • Operations on NDK equipment for multiple production lines; maintaining equipment check sheets and maintaining C.O.P. in work area.
  • After initial training, associates will be cross trained in more than one step of the process.
  • Use tools such as file, air sander, air chisel, air blow wand, broom, dustpan and squeegee.
  • Physical effort moving lightweight materials.
  • Know and maintain production quantities & quality.
  • Check quality of products and parts to be used for production.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

When accomplishing tasks, remember to work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance

Safety & Environmental:

  • Promotes a safety first attitude and provides safe work environment by obtaining knowledge and then following all required OSHA regulations which may or may not include: Personal Protective Equipment, LOTO, Crane, Powered Lifts, Machine Guarding, Chemicals, Fall Protection, Fire Protection, Incident reporting, Respirator, Hearing conservation, Confined Spaces, and others

Quality:

  • Collaborate with the Casting Supervisor and Quality Assurance teams to ensure that equipment maintenance within the Casting department meets quality standards, maintaining product integrity.
  • Follow quality control processes and procedures to maintain product quality and adherence to specifications.

Delivery:

  • Collaborate with the Casting Supervisor to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks within the Casting department, ensuring the smooth flow of production.
  • Coordinate Production schedules to minimize disruption to production activities, contributing to on-time delivery of cast parts

Productivity:

  • Identify opportunities for productivity improvements within the casting process, collaborating with the Casting Supervisor to implement measures that increase efficiency and optimize resource utilization.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in productivity metrics, taking proactive steps to enhance equipment performance.

Reporting:

  • Provide daily updates to the Casting Supervisor on work progress, equipment performance, production targets, and key performance metrics within the Casting department.
  • Collaborate with the Casting Supervisor to gather and analyze data for reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and relevance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.

  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build friendly work relationships.
  • Familiar with manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures

Minimum Experienced Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet changing priorities and responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in safety regulations, quality control processes specific to the Casting department.
  • Able to Operate casting lines.
  • Able to Complete melt process on 4 pots.
  • Able to Run Furnace Operation
  • Able to Drive Transfer pot Operation.

Key Metrics Responsibility:

  • Monitor key performance metrics related to casting processes, including equipment uptime, and overall equipment efficiency (OEE).
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify areas for improvement and drive performance optimization, working towards achieving key performance targets.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand 8 hrs; to use hands and fingers; handle or feel objects, tools or controls; walk; reach with hands and arms; talk and/or hear; and withstand heated area.
  • Requires repetitive lifting (>700 each shift) of weights up to 15 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
