Job description

JOB TITLE: Casting Coordinator 

REPORTS TO: Casting Director  

FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt 

COMPENSATION RATE: $42,000 annually 

LOCATION: 170 N. Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601 (Hybrid Eligible) 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

An integral part of the Goodman Theatre’s Casting Department, the Casting Coordinator works with the Casting Director to cast all Goodman productions, readings and workshops. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Collaborate with Casting Director to ascertain and facilitate directors’ needs on productions  

  • Delegate to and support the Casting Assistant in the upkeep of casting department files, both hard-copy and digital  

  • Manage audition logistics including space reservations, materials, and set-up  

  • Assist Casting Director in running all in-person auditions 

  • Assist Casting Director in training/supervising the Casting Assistant and Casting Intern.  

  • Actively contribute to Casting Director’s list making, especially readings, with an eye toward fostering up-and-coming non-equity performers  

  • Actively engage and participate in creative conversations with creative teams and begin to foster a personal creative aesthetic  

  • Work with the Casting Director to facilitate the ongoing relationship with Actors’ Equity Association (regarding contracts, auditions and casting procedures)  

  • Attend local productions, showcases, and other actor-related events with special attention toward the non-Equity acting community as a representative of The Goodman’s Casting Department 

  • Assist the Casting Director with all other aspects of actor relations within the Goodman Theatre and the Artistic Department 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:  

  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience as a Casting Assistant or related professional theatrical administrative roles 

  • Genuine interest in Chicago theatre, actors and the non-equity community  

  • Superior organization skills and ability to handle multiple projects/assignments at the same time  

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office & Breakdown Express
