Job description

Responsibilities

Shape the Pursuits That Shape the Mission

At Peraton, we don't just compete for contracts - we win the work that powers some of the nation's most consequential missions. We're looking for an ambitious, deal-closing Capture Director to lead our highest-priority Federal Civilian pursuits and turn complex customer challenges into transformative, multi-hundred-million-dollar wins.

If you live for the strategy, the chase, and the close - and you've built a reputation as the person leaders trust to bring home the marquee deals - we want to talk to you.

Why This Role

  • Big-ticket impact. You'll personally lead priority pursuits valued at $100M+, with full visibility from our senior executive team.
  • Mission that matters. Your wins translate directly into Mission Engineering, Digital Transformation, AI & Data, Cybersecurity, and Cloud/Enterprise IT solutions that move the federal government forward.
  • A team built to win. Partner daily with seasoned Business Development Executives, Solution Architects, and the deepest bench of Subject Matter Experts in the industry.
  • Real ownership. From strategy to solution to signature, you'll drive the win - not hand it off.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the pursuit. Own end-to-end capture strategy for Peraton's most visible FedCiv priority opportunities from qualification through proposal submission and post-submission activities.
  • Architect the win. Design differentiated, mission-relevant offers spanning technical, management, past performance, and cost/price - solutions customers actually want to buy.
  • Build the coalition. Forge and manage relationships with teammates, subcontractors, and industry partners to assemble winning teams and compelling value propositions.
  • Translate customer needs into customer value. Work shoulder-to-shoulder with Architects/Solution professionals and SMEs to align our capabilities to the operational realities of program sponsors.
  • Sell the strategy internally. Articulate the win strategy, solution, business case, and risk posture in governance reviews with Peraton's senior leadership - and earn their investment.
  • Drive a disciplined cadence. Run a rigorous capture process: black hats, color reviews, pricing strategy, teaming negotiations, and proposal alignment.
Qualifications

What You Bring

Must-Haves:

  • 16+ years of relevant experience, including 8+ years of full life-cycle capture management
  • Demonstrated track record winning large, complex FedCiv pursuits - ideally at the $100M+ scale
  • Deep customer intimacy across Federal Civilian Departments and Agencies
  • Mastery of federal procurement, contracting, and pricing strategy across multiple contract types
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing capture teams alongside solution architects, capture managers, and SMEs
  • Skilled negotiator of teaming agreements and competitive pricing strategies
  • Exceptional strategic selling: discovery, ROI articulation, sales cycle management, tactical planning, and closing
  • Strong command of Bid & Proposal budget development and management for large, lengthy pursuits
  • Outstanding executive presence and the ability to influence at every decision level
  • Comfort operating at pace - hard deadlines, high stakes, extended hours when the win demands it
  • US citizenship required; must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Must be local to Reston/Herndon, VA

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Active presence in industry groups, conferences, and trade communities - you stay ahead of where the market is going
  • Reputation as a creative, strategic thinker who challenges the obvious answer
  • Track record of inspiring and mobilizing cross-functional teams
  • An established professional reputation built on excellence and unimpeachable integrity
