Job description

Withum seeks a Business Development Executive who will be responsible for expanding Withum's market position and for achieving specific related financial goals. The Business Development Executive can be based out of our Rochester NY office location. This person will build key customer relationships, identify business opportunities both independently and in coordination with the Firm's Partners, negotiate and close business deals and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions. The Business Development Executive will collaborate with the Partner group, marketing, and other key staff to increase sales opportunities and thereby maximize revenue for the Firm. They will also help manage existing clients to ensure they stay satisfied and positive.ย 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serving as the primary driver of new business development by prospecting for new clients through networking, cold calling, advertising, industry events, and other leadgeneration activities
  • Developing and maintaining a strong pipeline of new business opportunities, including opening, tracking, updating, and closing entries in the CRM system
  • Planning, preparing, and delivering persuasive sales approaches and pitches that effectively communicate the Firm's value proposition and differentiate its services in the marketplace
  • Building, developing, and sustaining strong relationships with new and existing clients, establishing trust, rapport, and longterm partnerships
  • Growing and retaining existing clients by identifying, presenting, and expanding the use of additional solutions and services to achieve revenue growth and broader service adoption
  • Establishing yourself as the relationship leader for targeted prospects, leading coordinated, crossfunctional teams to drive penetration, revenue expansion, and consistent delivery of Firm services
  • Collaborating closely with industry groups, service line leaders, and engagement teams to ensure appropriate resources, expertise, and deliverables are aligned with client needs and growth objectives
  • Coordinating and communicating sales opportunities internally to position both the client and the Firm with the highest probability of success
  • Monitoring market conditions, industry trends, and competitor activity to identify opportunities and continuously refine the Firm's unique selling propositions and differentiators
  • Attending and actively participating in relevant industry functions, association events, and conferences, providing feedback and intelligence on market, industry, and emerging trends
  • Demonstrating personal accountability for timely communication, coordination, and collaboration with both clients and internal stakeholders to ensure commitments are met with appropriate urgency and professionalism
  • Using the market and competitors, identifying, and developing the Firm's unique selling propositions and differentiators

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of ten (5) years of professional services, business development, or sales experience, with a proven track record of success
  • Deep understanding of the relevant market, competitive landscape, and the accounting and professional services industry, including associated solutions and services
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership, including the ability to identify market opportunities, define growth strategies, and develop and deploy effective business development plans and processes
  • Proven experience in creating, implementing, and training teams on formal sales processes, as well as bestinclass business development and relationship management practices
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to set direction, influence stakeholders, and lead teams across varying roles and responsibilities
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to organize and lead meetings and discussions with senior executives and business partners
  • Highly organized, detailoriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines for both individual and team deliverables
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including effective time management, multitasking, and accountability
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with demonstrated experience working as a productive and trusted member of a team
  • Proactive, resultsoriented selfstarter who maintains professionalism and composure in a demanding, clientfacing role
  • Ability and willingness to travel and to attend networking, client, and industry functions, including those held outside normal business hours
  • College degree or relevant/equivalent work experience. MBA or other advanced degrees is a plus
  • Excellent communication and confidence interacting with clients and business partners, and ability to maintain professional composure in a challenging role

This Role Reports Directly to:

  • Director of Business Development
  • Will collaborate closely with Partner and Western New York Offices Leader
The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $125,000 base forย candidates residing in New York. Withum offers a competitive benefits package. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including the specific role, hiring location, and the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications.
