Position Summary

The Manager, Business Development, will be responsible for driving growth in Comtech’s Electronic Components (EEE) business by identifying and securing new opportunities across commercial, government, and international markets. This role is focused on expanding our customer base and penetrating new markets for high-reliability microelectronic components used in space and defense hardware applications.


The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of EEE parts, including integrated circuits, diodes, transistors, connectors, and other critical components, and have a proven track record of building strategic relationships and winning new business. It is preferable that this candidate has established business connections and contacts within key customer organizations, including OEMs, prime contractors, and government agencies, to accelerate engagement and opportunity development.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Identify, qualify, and capture new business opportunities in commercial, government, and defense, space hardware markets.
  • Leverage existing industry relationships to open doors and build trust with target accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with spacecraft, launch vehicles, satellite and subsystem manufacturers.
  • Develop and execute account plans targeting both incumbent and emerging space exploration and observation programs.
  • Lead or support capture strategy, proposal development, and negotiation activities for key pursuits.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including program management, engineering, quality, marketing, and finance.
  • Maintain awareness of customer acquisition strategies, program funding, contracting mechanisms, and competitive landscape.
  • Coordinate with Marketing to plan and support industry trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings as the face of the company.
  • Provide customer feedback to influence trade show participation, digital marketing campaigns, and long-term business strategy.
  • Track and report on sales opportunities.
  • Represent Comtech at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings to promote our EEE product portfolio.


Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with DoD procurement processes, government contracting, and international export compliance (ITAR, EAR).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships, manage complex sales cycles, and close multi-million-dollar opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for a U.S. Secret clearance


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field (master’s degree or MBA preferred).


Experience:

  • 5+ years of business development, sales, or program capture experience in aerospace electronics, or related technology sectors.
