Inside Sales Representative

Location: Yonkers, NY (In-Office)

Job Type: Full-time Shift: Day shift Compensation: $45,000 - $55,000 per year

About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Inside Sales Representative to join our in-office team in Yonkers, NY. In this role, you will be the face and voice of our company, providing the highest possible level of service to our retail, walk-in contractor, commercial, and industrial customers. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator with a strong background in sales and building materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional service to all retail and walk-in contractors, commercial, and industrial customers.
  • Answer telephone inquiries pleasantly and promptly.
  • Educate customers on additional items related to their purchases to ensure they have everything they need.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the products sold, including product usage, pricing, and new products entering the market.
  • Listen attentively to customer complaints to understand what is needed to satisfy them.
  • Handle minor complaints with the objective of successfully solving the problem.
  • Comply with all company procedures regarding sales transactions, paperwork, refunds, credit memos, etc..
  • Maintain stock, displays, and general housekeeping for assigned areas.
  • Assist supervisors and other employees as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Sales Experience: 3 years of experience in retail or contractor building material sales is preferred. General sales experience (3 years) and specific building supply sales experience (2 years) are highly preferred.

Required Skills

  • Ability to do basic math, read orders, follow instructions, and accurately complete forms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers, employees, and supervisors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good telephone etiquette.
  • Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
