Job description

About the Role:

The Building Material Sales position is crucial for driving revenue and ensuring customer satisfaction within the lumber & building industry. This role involves engaging with customers to understand their building material needs and providing tailored solutions that meet those requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining product knowledge and staying updated on industry trends to effectively advise clients. Additionally, this position requires collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely delivery and inventory management. Ultimately, the goal is to foster long-term relationships with customers and contributing to the overall success of the business.

Building Material Sales will assist customers with lumber and building materials such as doors, windows, siding, decks, lumber and other accessories as well as assist in other departments as needed.  Computer work required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in retail sales or customer service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the building materials industry or related field.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management and inventory management systems.
  • Retail sales training.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers to assess their lumber and building material needs and provide expert recommendations.
  • Maintain an organized and visually appealing sales floor, ensuring products are well-stocked and displayed.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, including handling cash and credit card payments.
  • Collaborate with purchasing/suppliers to manage inventory levels and ensure timely restocking of products.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and following up on sales.

Builders is open Sunday through Saturday.  Hours will vary to adequately cover the department. Every other Saturday is required.  No Sundays!  No late evenings!
