What is the Opportunity?
Aecon is seeking a Bid Director to join our civil east group to support dynamic, civil infrastructure projects in the U.S. out of our Charlotte, NC office.
What You'll Do Here:
  • Serve as the single point of contact for bid-related activities and liaise with clients and project segment representatives.
  • Ensure the bid meets all requirements, manage schedules and budgets and resolve issues to achieve successful bid submissions.
  • Work with clients, contractors, and design professionals to develop comprehensive bid proposals.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with bid proposals.
  • Develop and execute bid strategies to deliver successful outcomes, including requirements management, interface management and compliance with bid specifications.
  • Ensure all bid documents are accurate, complete and comply with client requirements and industry standards.
  • Lead teams responsible for preparing bid documents, including design, procurement, cost estimation and technical proposals.
  • Oversee the integration of various components into a cohesive bid proposal, ensuring alignment with project goals and client expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
  • Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.

What You Bring to the Team:
  • Minimum 12 years in the heavy civil infrastructure construction sector or a related field, with at least 5 years of supervisory or management experience in bid management.
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field; P.eng designation is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Progressive Design and Build (PDB) models and other contractual structures for rail and transit projects.
  • Knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements for passenger rail transit projects.
  • Proficient in project management principles, including budget and schedule control.
  • Expertise in preparing bid proposals for complex mega civil projects
  • Strong judgement, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, and Outlook packages).
  • Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
