JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary


Nola Bank is seeking a customer-focused, energetic, and relationship-driven Universal Banker to serve as a key member of the Retail Banking team. Reporting directly to the Sr. Banker, the Universal Banker is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while performing a broad range of teller and platform functions, including account opening, account servicing, transaction processing, and relationship development.


As one of the primary points of contact for customers, the Universal Banker plays a critical role in creating a welcoming banking experience, identifying customer needs, and connecting customers with appropriate products and services. The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and contributing to the success of a growing community bank.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Deliver exceptional customer service by building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Process routine teller transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, payments, transfers, cashier's checks, and other account transactions.
  • Open and service consumer and business deposit accounts in accordance with bank policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers with online banking, mobile banking, debit card services, and other electronic banking products.
  • Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services, including checking accounts, savings accounts, CDs, IRAs, and other deposit products.
  • Support branch sales and referral goals by identifying opportunities to introduce customers to lending, treasury management, and other bank services.
  • Resolve customer inquiries, account issues, and service requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of bank products, services, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with branch operational duties, including balancing cash drawers, ATM settlement, vault transactions, and daily branch balancing procedures.
  • Follow all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and other compliance requirements.
  • Assist with branch opening and closing procedures as assigned.
  • Participate in community events, business development activities, and customer outreach efforts as requested.
  • Support the bank's relationship-banking culture through professionalism, teamwork, and responsiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the branch and the bank's overall objectives.


Required Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of banking, retail financial services, customer service, or cash-handling experience.
  • Experience opening and servicing deposit accounts preferred.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential customer information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn banking software and systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous experience as a Universal Banker, Personal Banker, Teller, or Customer Service Representative in a financial institution.
  • Knowledge of consumer and business deposit products and services.
  • Experience with core banking systems and digital banking platforms.
  • Familiarity with BSA, AML, CIP, OFAC, and other banking compliance requirements.
  • Experience in a community bank or de novo bank environment.
  • Knowledge of the New Orleans market and local business community.
  • Bilingual language skills are a plus.
