AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking our next Test Engineer III (DevSecOps Support) !!!!
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Test Engineer III (DevSecOps Support)to support the NISSC 3 program in Colorado Springs. The Test Engineer III will develop and execute comprehensive test plans and procedures for system verification, validation, and operational acceptance, while also applying strong systems, virtualization, security, and database experience in a DevSecOps environment. This role collaborates closely with software developers, QA personnel, system administrators, and cybersecurity staff to ensure system functionality, reliability, and compliance.
Responsibilities
• Develop test plans, test scripts, and test procedures for system verification, validation, and operational acceptance in accordance with program and contractual requirements.
• Plan, develop, and execute integration, regression, and acceptance testing for system updates, upgrades, and deployments in a DevSecOps environment.
• Conduct functional and integration tests; document and analyze results; support defect tracking, triage, and remediation activities.
• Produce and review traceable test plans and test cases, ensuring requirements-to-test traceability and clear documentation of expected results.
• Configure and manage test environments, including virtualized, networked, and database components, to accurately reflect operational configurations.
• Coordinate deficiency tracking and reporting, collaborating with development, QA, system administration, and cybersecurity teams to resolve issues and verify fixes.
• Deliver verification and validation evidence to demonstrate operational readiness and support formal system acceptance.
• Apply experience in software and hardware integration engineering and hardware Level 1 troubleshooting to support test execution and issue resolution.
• Support configuration management practices and tools to ensure consistent, repeatable test baselines and accurate configuration documentation.
Qualifications
7-10 years of relevant experience in test engineering, software/system verification and validation, or DevSecOps support in DoD or similar mission-critical environments.
• Experience performing software and hardware integration engineering and hardware Level 1 troubleshooting.
• 5-7 years of System Administration experience, including work in virtualized and/or enterprise environments.
• 10+ years of Database Administration experience, including ADABAS database experience.
• At least 5 years of experience with Dell VxRail deployment and support.
• Skilled in configuration management and vSphere/vCenter administration for managing and supporting test environments.
• Experience performing Information System Security Officer (ISSO) tasks, including ensuring compliance with STIG checklists and vulnerability scan mitigation/remediation using Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
• Skilled in Optical Media Tracking and disk cloning operations using Logicube drive cloners.
• Demonstrated ability to develop traceable test plans, configure complex test environments, and coordinate cross-functional defect tracking and reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of test documentation, deficiency reports, and validation/verification evidence.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field,
OR Equivalent DoD/Military training in software testing, systems engineering, system administration, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum: Active Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain TS/SCI.
• Holds Security+ certification.
• Holds VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA) and VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certifications.
• Holds a DoD 8140 qualifying certification; one or more of the following (or equivalent) is required/preferred:
- CEH
- CFR
- Cloud+
- GSEC
- PenTest+
- SSCP

Pay Transparency Statement
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $116,200.00/Yr. - USD $194,000.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
