Role Overview

The Sales Engineer serves as the primary technical resource across the full sales cycle, working hand-in-hand with Solution Consultants and Sales Transformation Leads to drive enterprise opportunities in Jumpmind Commerce POS, Inventory, Promotion Management, and Sales Audit. This role bridges technical depth and business acumen, translating complex platform capabilities into compelling, tailored solutions for prospective retail clients.

Building on foundational pre-sales experience, the Sales Engineer takes increasing ownership of deal strategy, solution design, and customer engagement, operating as a trusted technical advisor to both internal stakeholders and enterprise prospects.

Key ResponsibilitiesPre-Sales & Technical Solutioning
  • Lead and independently deliver technical discovery sessions, product demonstrations, and proof-of-concept engagements for enterprise POS, Inventory, and Promotion Management opportunities

  • Design and architect tailored solution proposals that align Jumpmind Commerce capabilities with client operational and technology environments (cloud, hybrid, on-premise)

  • Build, maintain, and evolve demo environments that showcase real-world retail scenarios across the full Jumpmind Commerce platform

  • Collaborate closely with Solution Consultants to ensure seamless handoffs, consistent messaging, and unified solution narratives throughout the sales cycle

Solution Consulting Collaboration
  • Partner with Solution Consultants and Sales Transformation Leads to develop and present technical proposals, solution diagrams, and ROI justifications for enterprise deals

  • Support RFP/RFI responses with accurate, technically sound, and compelling content covering POS architecture, omnichannel integration, promotions, and inventory capabilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert on retail POS architecture, microservices, mobile POS, and omnichannel strategy alongside the Solution Consulting team

  • Advise prospects on integration options including ERP, OMS, loyalty platforms, and payment systems contributing to end-to-end solution design

Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
  • Own and manage technical relationships with key stakeholders across the prospect journey, from initial discovery through POC delivery and deal close

  • Translate customer pain points, store operations workflows, and business objectives into solution designs that demonstrate clear business value

  • Provide consultative guidance on scalability, extensibility, and long-term platform value of Jumpmind Commerce

  • Support on-site customer meetings, executive presentations, and industry events approximately 1–2 times per month.

Innovation & Internal Enablement
  • Prototype and develop new capabilities leveraging AI, machine learning, and edge technologies to differentiate Jumpmind solutions in competitive deals

  • Build internal tools and automations that improve team efficiency, demo agility, and sales cycle velocity

  • Train and mentor Associate Sales Engineers on technical sales processes, product knowledge, and demo best practices

  • Maintain and continuously improve technical documentation, demo environments, and sales enablement assets

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Relay structured prospect feedback to Product and Engineering teams to inform platform roadmap and continuously improve Jumpmind Commerce capabilities

  • Collaborate with Account Executives on deal strategy, opportunity qualification, and customer engagement planning

  • Stay current with retail technology trends, competitive POS landscape, and Jumpmind Commerce platform releases

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 2–4 years of experience in a sales engineering, solutions engineering, or technical pre-sales role, preferably in enterprise software or retail technology

  • Demonstrated ability to independently deliver product demonstrations and manage technical sales engagements

  • Working knowledge of software architecture concepts including APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, and SaaS delivery models

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Experience supporting or contributing to RFP/RFI responses

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with sales, product, and engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with retail POS platforms, omnichannel commerce, or enterprise retail technology solutions

  • Familiarity with inventory management, promotion management, or sales audit workflows in a retail context

  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and managing opportunities through the sales cycle

  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML concepts, distributed systems, or edge computing

  • Background in solution architecture or technical consulting in enterprise environments

  • Languages: Java, JavaScript, SQL

  • Development Tools: Git, Github,Swagger/Open API,
