Summary
Lincoln Electric Automation is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Applications Engineer to develop concept designs and manufacturing solutions that help customers improve productivity, quality, and operational performance. In this role, you will partner with sales, engineering, customers, and suppliers to create equipment concepts, automation cell layouts, and proposal packages that bring advanced manufacturing solutions to life.
Using CAD and 3D modeling tools, you will transform customer requirements into practical automation concepts while supporting quotation activities and project development. Experience with robotic or process simulation software is a plus and provides an opportunity to further validate manufacturing processes and system performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop equipment concepts, automation cell layouts, and manufacturing system designs using CAD and 3D modeling software.
  • Create 2D drawings, 3D models, renderings, and presentation materials to support customer proposals and engineering activities.
  • Partner with sales and engineering teams to develop innovative automation solutions that meet customer, safety, manufacturing, and cost objectives.
  • Support the quotation process through technical concept development, layout drawings, and proposal documentation.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to refine concepts and ensure practical, manufacturable designs.
  • Evaluate and incorporate design revisions throughout the proposal and project development cycle.
    Utilize simulation and virtual validation tools, when applicable, to assess manufacturing processes, equipment layouts, and cycle time performance.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, design standards, and ISO-compliant procedures.
  • Participate in customer meetings, technical presentations, and industry events as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; Associate degree in a technical discipline preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience designing industrial equipment, manufacturing systems, or automation solutions.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and experience creating equipment layouts and design concepts.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment applications.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with 3D modeling software (We use SolidWorks).
  • Experience supporting customer-facing projects, proposals, or technical sales efforts.
  • Familiarity with robotic simulation, process simulation, or virtual validation tools.
  • Exposure to industrial automation, robotics, or manufacturing cell design.
