Job description

SEWS — Farmington Hills, Michigan Office.  Although located at SEWS – Farmington Hills Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work.  Associates are required to work at least four days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.   
 
Job Title: Sales Engineer III
 
BASIC PURPOSE:
 
Primary focus is to secure new business with General Motors.
Position will also focus on: All new business quoting for existing and new customers for North American Business Unit.
Lead North American Business Unit Sales Strategy. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities with Automotive OEM's, focus on General Motors, including Ford, Stellantis, Rivian, Tesla and other manufactures. 
  2. Develop multi-year OEM business acquisition strategies, aligned to vehicle platforms, model cycles and sourcing timelines. 
  3. Lead RFQ/RFI/RFP activities including; Championing Cross Functional Team working level meetings, pricing strategy development, present to Sr. Management to obtain approval, and commercial submission. 
  4. Establish and maintain relationships with OEM purchasing, engineering and program teams as the primary commercial interface with OEM customers. 
  5. Monitor automotive market trends, OEM strategies and competitive dynamics. 
  6. Lead monthly Sales Strategy meetings focusing on current and past RFQ's. 
  7. Responsible to manage Customer financials focusing on; Quoting Customer, obtaining Purchase / Tool Orders, address extraordinary costs and obtain customer approval for recovery throughout the program/project life utilizing internal and Customer systems. 
  8. Participate in customer program/project team meetings and be responsible to report all financial matters to the relevant functional groups. 
  9. Assist the Sales team in developing new/improved process and procedures. 
  10. Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.                                                                                                                            
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or adjacent discipline required.
  • 5+ years of Automotive Sales including strategic business development and experience with Global OEM's.
  • Wire Harness experience with General Motors is preferred.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as required.
  • Ability to be on call as needed to support meetings outside regular hours.
