Job description

FEMA Corporation is currently looking for a Sales Engineer to support the Applications Engineering Department. This position will report to the Applications Engineering Manager. Work hours for this role are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Friday.

The Sales Engineer at FEMA Corporation works closely with customers to deliver solutions that optimize customer systems and improve performance. Identifies new opportunities within current customers, explores new customers and markets for FEMA, and secures production business to drive annual sales growth.

Throughout the sales process, collaborates internally, offers outstanding customer support externally, and brings strong technical backgrounds to aid in the selection, understanding, and implementation of products and systems.

Job Responsibilities
  • Sales & Business Growth – 60% of time
    • Represent FEMA Corporation with assigned customers, establishing relationships with key customer engineers to develop new business opportunities and increase sales
    • Leverage sales skills to identify new prospects, convert leads and develop a robust sales pipeline
    • Seek opportunities to leverage existing product portfolio into new markets or applications to grow same-line revenue
    • Regularly conduct on-site visits with customers to seek out opportunities and build connections
    • Assist in marketing and sales efforts, including trade shows, product trainings, and market trend analysis
    • Responsible for responding to application inquiries to all parties (Customer, Engineering, Production, Management) in a timely manner
    • Prepare accurate and competitive quotes for customers based on product specifications or technical proposal requests
  • Maintain Understanding of Products, Systems, and Technical Expertise – 20% of time
    • Review, translate and apply customer inquiries and technical specifications to design and/or project specifications and goals
    • Understand form, fit and function of FEMA products and their use in customer systems
    • Leverage this understanding to provide value to FEMA and customers through the selection of optimized solutions, continuous improvement, and cost reduction opportunities
  • Provide Exemplary Customer Service & Communication – 20% of time
    • Effectively communicate with internal and external customers, including coordination with internal Product Engineering groups to resolve customer issues
    • Act as the “Voice of the Customer” at FEMA to ensure customer expectations are being understood and exceeded
    • Understand customer timelines, design goals, and key deliverables throughout a project, and proactively communicate these within the organization
Job Requirements
  • Strong communication, negotiation and project management skills
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred, with >2 years of experience either in Technical Sales, Applications, or Product Engineering
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a relevant technical/business Associates degree with mechanical/technical aptitude and 3-5 years of technical sales experience will be considered
  • Customer travel – 25% to 50% both internationally and domestically
  • Must have valid driver’s license; Subject to MVR Check
