Job description

Principal Associate, Project Management

The ERO Data Integration Office is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Principal Associate in Project Management. This role sits within the Operational Risk Management (ORM) tower of the Enterprise Risk Organization (ERO). As a Principal Associate, you will lead complex workstreams that ensure adherence to Capital One Data Management policies and initiatives across ERO business units. In particular you will help drive forward ERO data products strategy through the Nexus program.

In this exciting role, you will work closely with key stakeholders to deliver results that will have a direct impact on the bottom line of the company. This role will be responsible for building relationships across lines of business and partner teams in ERO. You will serve as an important culture carrier for the organization, modeling the right behaviors and creating a shared sense of purpose, leadership, and accountability with and for the team. You will foster the culture of the ORM and be a critical piece to the team vision and values.

General Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for moving the needle across several key functions to drive program success:

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the definition and execution of large-scale projects and routines, including change management, data management and complex governance functions.

  • Workflow Optimization: Oversee multi-faceted workstreams and day-to-day activities, ensuring alignment with delivery roadmaps.

  • Stakeholder Management: Act as a primary point of contact for Senior Leadership Team (SLT) members, providing regular updates on project health, risks, and strategic outcomes.

  • Problem Solving: Lead the delivery of proactive solutions for program milestones, dependency management and risk mitigation

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, able to build and nurture strategic relationships, able to think on their feet, understand the process of setting and delivering on strategic goals, and know how to drive change. They should be able to connect the dots between good process and great results, effectively influence others to achieve goals, and drive meaningful conversations. Candidates should be self-motivated, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, executive presence, and a passion for solving problems. Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience

  • At least 3 Years of Project Management experience

  • At least 1 year of experience using PowerPoint or Google Slides

  • At least 1 year of experience using Excel or Google Sheets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • 4+ years of Project Management experience

  • 3+ years of experience in PowerPoint or Google Slides

  • 3+ years of experience in Excel or Google Sheets

  • 3+ years of experience in Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)

  • Project Management Professional, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Project Manager


Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Project Manager










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
