Job description

Director of Project Management - US & Canadian Markets

The Project Manager Director will lead the Business Development Support (BDS) and Product Delivery teams, which are integral parts of US Canadian Markets Operations. The BDS team provides both strategic and tactical consulting expertise supporting new or enhanced business opportunities. The Product Delivery team oversees the execution strategy and implementation of advanced payment products including EMV, transit, 3-D Secure and digital payments with a wide variety of payments partners. In this role, the Director will serve as the operational strategic liaison across internal and external stakeholders to streamline processes, enhance delivery and drive results supporting company initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Proactively builds and manages strategic relationships with internal and external business partners

  • Works collaboratively with internal business partners to identify, assess and support the implementation of business strategies and growth opportunities

  • Develops implementation strategies for key advanced payments products (e.g. EMV, Transit, Protect Buy and digital payments)

  • Provides thought leadership to other teams through analysis and strategy, client engagement, legal approvals and opportunity assessments

  • Ensures adequate resources (production capacity) exists to support the on-going support activities and prioritized development projects needed to both support and grow the Payments business

  • Assess opportunities to improve product delivery processes and drive continuous improvement

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • At least 8 years of project management, change management, business consulting or operations experience within the payments industry

  • At least 5 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal or external business clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of project management, change management, business consulting or operations experience within the payments industry

  • Project Management Professional(PMP) certification

  • 5+ years of experience leading process improvement initiatives

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $206,000 - $235,100 for Director, Project Management


Riverwoods, IL: $187,300 - $213,700 for Director, Project Management










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
