What is an associate broker?

Associate brokers are licensed real estate professionals who have completed additional education and licensing requirements beyond those of a standard real estate agent. While they hold a broker's license, associate brokers typically work under the supervision of a managing or principal broker within a real estate firm. Their responsibilities often include assisting clients with buying, selling, or leasing properties, negotiating contracts, and sometimes overseeing other agents. However, unlike principal brokers, they usually do not own or manage the real estate brokerage themselves.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an associate broker?

To thrive as an Associate Broker, you need strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of real estate or insurance markets, and typically a relevant license or certification. Familiarity with CRM software, MLS systems, and document management tools is often required. Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and client service skills help set top performers apart. These abilities are crucial for managing transactions efficiently, building trust, and achieving optimal outcomes for clients.

What are some typical challenges faced by associate brokers, and how can they effectively overcome them?

Associate Brokers often encounter challenges such as building a reliable client base, staying updated with market trends, and managing multiple transactions simultaneously. To overcome these, it's important to develop strong networking skills, invest time in ongoing professional education, and utilize technology for efficient transaction management. Collaborating closely with senior brokers and support staff also helps streamline processes and provides valuable mentorship opportunities. Maintaining excellent communication and organization will set you up for success in this competitive field.

What You'll Do
Delivering exceptional service is the priority by:

  • Quickly respond to broker inquiries via phone or email, making it easy for them to work with us.
  • Providing support for billing inquiries, policy changes or renewal inquiries with ease and accuracy.

What You'll Need
You know your way around a computer. You can easily switch between multiple applications to complete a task. Remembering details, prioritizing competing tasks and thinking critically to solve problems are things that come easily to you (likely because you may have previously worked in a restaurant, school or retail store). You take pride in your work, communicate your thoughts clearly (over the phone and in writing) and your friends and family describe you as a person with integrity.
An Average Day
You'll start and end your day at the same time every day during training and post training you'll have an assigned shift for your 40-hour work week. During busier seasons, you'll always have the opportunity to contribute more and be rewarded with overtime pay. You'll have different daily assignments, so you don't get bored. And there will always be time for personal and professional development.
Our Commitment to You
First and foremost, PURE starts by setting you up for success! Services Associates take part in a comprehensive paid onboarding program that will prepare you to confidently work with our members or brokers. You'll also receive a complete set of home office equipment to make you comfortable when you work remotely.
What We Do
We're a member-owned property and casualty insurer designed exclusively for financially successful families and driven by a purpose of doing what is right for our members. We provide exceptional service, hospitality and care, we partner with our members to help prevent losses and we create smart insurance solutions at fair prices.
We aim for our members to love their insurance. It is our mission is to create a membership experience so compelling that our members never want to leave.
Who We Are
We want to be transparent about what we expect from each other. From PURE, you can expect:
Opportunities to stretch and grow: your professional and personal development matters to us. We're committed to providing experiences through on-the-job learning and professional development that increase your impact and rewards.
Clarity and kindness: you can rely on us to be open, honest and supportive, offering clarity on what success looks like.
Support in good times and bad: we believe in showing up for each other consistently, not only when it's easy. You can expect a thoughtful partner, even when we disagree.
A community that cares: we are committed to sustaining a community in which each person feels cared for as an individual. We lift each other up, celebrate wins together and support one another through challenges in work and life.
Who You Are
All of the strongest relationships are a partnership- a two way street. So here's what we ask of you:
  • Aim to bring your best every day: you're here because you want to be part of a team that makes a real impact and aims high.
  • Be a student and a teacher: share your knowledge and talents and be willing to listen and learn from those around you.
  • Get comfortable being uncomfortable: we face tough moments and obstacles with a "courage over comfort" approach and a positive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Be a culture builder: building a positive culture is everyone's responsibility, based on care, respect and openness to diverse perspectives.
A Culture of Development
Company culture is more than free lunches and swag (although we love those, too!). At PURE, all employees have regularly scheduled 1X1's with their manager. That's because feedback is a gift, and everyone at PURE strives to be better than the day before. We also invest in our employees' professional and personal development, so when new career opportunities become available, we look internally first.
Commuter Support
Commuting can be expensive. That's why we offer additional support of $100 per month to those who commute into a PURE office three days or more a week.
#LIHybrid
This role begins with a $50,000 starting salary. After onboarding, you are immediately eligible for overtime and the monthly $500 Exceptional Performance bonus that has no cap on the number of winners! You will also be regularly considered for salary increases every six months with continued overtime opportunities.
