Job description

Project Controller- Data Centerย 

TheProject Controllerplays a critical role in ensuring Black Box's data center projects are delivered with accuracy, transparency, and predictable execution. Supporting structured cabling, network infrastructure, andlow voltagescopes across active job sites, this role provides thereal-timeschedule and cost insights teams rely on to deliverfast paced, multibuilding programs.ย 

You'llwork closely with Project Managers, field leaders, procurement, and senior Project Controls leadership to ensure project schedules and cost data reflect actual field conditions and enable informeddecision-making. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives inexecution-drivenenvironments and wants meaningful impact across major data center projects.ย 

What You Will Doย 

Project Controls Executionย 

  • Support assigned data center projects withhands-onschedule and cost control for structured cabling and technology infrastructure scopes.ย 

  • Build, update, andmaintaindetailed project schedules aligned with GC milestones (DECC Ready, ENS Ready, PR, SC) and Black Box sequencing.ย 

  • Track and forecast labor hours, headcount needs, and installation productivity.ย 

  • Monitor project costs including labor, materials (OFCI/OFOI), expenses, and approved changes.ย 

  • Ensure schedules and cost data accurately reflect field realities, access constraints, and material readiness.ย 

Cost & Schedule Monitoringย 

  • Perform weekly schedule updates andvalidateprogress with field teams.ย 

  • Support cost forecasting, variance analysis, and labor productivity trending.ย 

  • Assist with Earned Value Management (SPI, CPI), labor curves, and installation reports.ย 

  • Help evaluate scope changes, bid leveling, and cost/schedule impacts.ย 

  • Maintain alignment between schedule, cost, and resource plans across Black Box systems.ย 

Risk Identification & Mitigationย 

  • Identifyemerging risks tied to logic sequencing, access handovers, material delays, and labor constraints.ย 

  • Escalate risks with clear,data-backedrecommendations.ย 

  • Supportthe maintenanceof project risk registers and mitigation tracking.ย 

  • Participate in schedule reviews to ensure critical path and phasing reflect actual execution requirements.ย 

Collaboration & Communicationย 

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Field Leads tomaintainalignment between planning and installation.ย 

  • Coordinate with procurement tosyncmaterial delivery with installation sequencing.ย 

  • Provide clear, concise schedule and cost updates to support project and customerdecision-making.ย 

  • Participate in coordination meetings with GCs, trade partners, and internal leadership as needed.ย 

What You Need to Succeedย 

  • Solid understanding of project controls fundamentals within construction or data center environments.ย 

  • Experience supporting datacenter, structured cabling, orlow voltagetechnology projects preferred.ย 

  • ProficiencyinPrimavera P6and/orMicrosoft Projectfor detailed scheduling.ย 

  • Experience tracking labor hours,headcounts, and productivity.ย 

  • Familiarity with ERP systems such asSAP,Oracle, or equivalent for cost tracking.ย 

  • Foundational knowledge ofEarned Value Management (EVM).ย 

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; exposure toPower BIorTableaua plus.ย 

  • UnderstandingGC milestones, phased turnovers, and multibuilding execution.ย 

  • High attention to detail, strong documentation habits, and disciplined reporting.ย 

  • Ability to prioritizefast-movingjob sites and competing demands.ย 

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to partner well with field teams and leadership.ย 

  • Self-driven,execution focused, and eager to grow within Black Box's Project Controls organization.ย 

What You Bring to the Tableย 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required;bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred.ย 

  • 5+ yearsas a construction planner/scheduler on projects over $15M.ย 

  • Preferred certifications:ย 

  • PMISP (Scheduling Professional)ย 

  • AACE PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional)ย 

  • PMP (Project Management Professional)ย
