What is a contract project controller?

A Contract Project Controller is a professional responsible for overseeing and managing the financial aspects of projects within an organization, typically under a contract or temporary arrangement. Their main duties include budgeting, cost control, financial reporting, and ensuring that projects stay within scope and budget. They collaborate closely with project managers and stakeholders to monitor progress, forecast financial performance, and implement financial controls. Contract Project Controllers are often hired for specific projects or periods, bringing specialized expertise to help organizations achieve their project objectives efficiently.

To thrive as a Contract Project Controller, you need strong analytical skills, financial management expertise, and a background in accounting or business, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with project management software (such as MS Project or Primavera), ERP systems (like SAP), and certifications like PMP or CPA is highly valuable.
