Controller / Project Manager

Location: Any of our three offices (Dublin/Lancaster/St. Clairsville)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt (Salary)

Are you a detail-oriented, strategic finance professional who also enjoys leading cross-functional projects from concept to completion? We are seeking a Controller / Project Manager to oversee the firm’s financial management while coordinating key projects that support the overall vision and mission of Jarvis Law Office, PC. This role blends hands-on accounting, reporting, and controls with project planning, execution, and stakeholder coordination, making it ideal for a proactive leader who can balance big-picture thinking with daily operational responsibilities.

The Controller / Project Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing budgeting and forecasting, supporting audits and compliance, and driving process improvements across finance and project operations. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to collaborate across departments in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Controller Duties

  • Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate and support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting as needed.
  • Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting activities; provide analysis and recommendations to leadership.
  • Review and approve accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
  • Partner with leadership to evaluate business cases, capital investments, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support the development and monitoring of KPIs and performance metrics for financial and project outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and workflows across finance and project operations.
  • Review company contracts to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and compliance guidelines.
  • Oversee company-wide expense management to ensure adherence to approved budgets and financial goals.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage cross-functional projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop project plans, including scope, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and partners to ensure clear communication and accountability.
  • Track project progress, risks, and issues; proactively identify roadblocks and drive resolutions.
  • Prepare and present project status updates and reports to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
  • Perform additional finance and project-related duties as needed to support the firm’s objectives.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • CPA, or similar certification required.
  • Six Sigma or PMP certification required.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting/controllership.
  • Prior experience managing or coordinating cross-functional projects is strongly preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of prior customer service experience.
  • At least two (2) years of prior office experience, including business phone systems and office computer systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and build positive relationships across departments.

Annual Compensation -

$100k to $110k
