Job Title: Controller

About Us

We are a growing Technology company based in St. Louis, delivering IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and cloud solutions to small and mid-sized businesses. As we scale, we're looking for a hands-on Controller to build and lead our accounting function, improve financial visibility, and support strategic decision-making.

Position Summary

The Controller will oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role requires someone who can operate both strategically and tactically-owning the day-to-day accounting while helping leadership understand the financial drivers of an MSP business (recurring revenue, service margins, utilization, etc.).

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes

- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)

- Analyze financial performance, including MRR, gross margin by service line, and client profitability

- Develop and maintain financial dashboards and KPIs

Accounting Operations

- Manage general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and revenue recognition

- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations

- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies

- Oversee audits, tax filings, and external accounting partners

MSP-Specific Financial Oversight

- Track and report on recurring revenue (MRR/ARR) and contract profitability

- Monitor service delivery costs, utilization rates, and project margins

- Support pricing strategies and contract structuring

- Work with PSA tools (e.g., ConnectWise) and integrate with accounting systems

Budgeting & Forecasting

- Lead annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts

- Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to leadership

- Support strategic planning and growth initiatives

Leadership & Process Improvement

- Build and manage accounting team (if applicable)

- Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiency

- Partner with operations, sales, and service teams to align financial goals

Qualifications

Required:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

- 5โ€“10+ years of progressive accounting experience

- 2+ years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role

- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting

- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks)

Preferred:

- Experience in an MSP, SaaS, or recurring revenue business model

- Familiarity with PSA tools (ConnectWise)

- CPA or CMA certification
