Job description

Name of Church: Shamokin Alliance Church
Title of Position: Assistant Pastor of Youth and Worship
Description: The role of the Youth Pastor is to develop a balanced ministry of winning, building, and equipping young people in junior high (6th-8th grade) and high school (9th-12th grade) in the surrounding area representing Jesus Christ and The Shamokin Alliance Church. The role of the Worship Leader is to build, develop, oversee, and lead the worship team. They will report directly to the Senior Pastor as well as working alongside the Elders and the lay leadership.
Compensation to be determined.
Qualifications:
  • Born again with evidence of a growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Growing and maturing walk with Jesus, giving evidence of spiritual maturity and integrity
  • Supportive of The Shamokin Alliance Church, its people, vision, and ministry, as well as that of The Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination
  • Senses a definite lifetime call to full-time ministry and has clear ability and spiritual gifting within the parameters of youth and worship ministry
  • Has completed or is in the process of receiving an undergraduate degree
  • Faithful, available, and teachable in the ministry with proven experience
  • Willing to support and become licensed by The Christian & Missionary Alliance

Youth Pastor Responsibilities:
  • To build positive relationships with junior high and high school students with the purpose of winning them to Christ, building them up in Christ, and equipping them to serve Christ
  • To design and oversee the overall ministry programming of junior high and high school
  • To recruit and work with adult sponsors in all areas to build a strong youth ministry team
  • To build and work with the junior high and high school ministry volunteer teams
  • To spend a significant amount of time being available and out among the students and their families in contacting them and building positive, discipling relationships
  • To provide some counseling and support for youth and their families
  • To become a "known" person in the community and on school campuses
  • Provide opportunities for young people to serve Christ which would include student ministry teams, mission trips, and local service opportunities
  • Develop and maintain the ministry budget for youth ministries

Worship Leader Responsibilities:
  • Implement logistical details and provide support and expertise for all Shamokin Alliance Church ministries requiring worship/music
  • Oversee the outreach concerts, musicals and special evangelistic efforts that involve music and other technical areas of the church
  • Maintain a constant program of self-improvement by keeping informed of current music methods, worship materials, promotional ideas, and administrative techniques
  • Maintain regular and consistent communication with all ages when it comes to worship
  • Select and purchase all needed music, equipment, and instruments
  • Oversee maintenance of the music library, materials and supplies, musical instruments, and equipment involved in the music ministry
  • Show patience and the ability to understand and appreciate the full range of musical styles, both traditional and contemporary
  • Ability to lead musical groups
  • Basic knowledge using social media platforms
  • Ability to take direction and work as a team member
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, ProPresenter and livestreaming services

Overall Church Responsibilities
  • Attend the monthly administrative board meetings and all church staff meetings
  • Develop and publish church office hours
  • Attend the Elder board meeting as invited
  • Maintain copyright records and adhere to lawful guidelines applicable to the use of copyrighted material
