THE BIG PICTURE

East Chain Evangelical Free Church (https://www.eastchain.com) is seeking a full-time Pastor.


Vision and Mission Statement

To Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples of Jesus Christ.

The East Chain Evangelical Free Church believes and acknowledges the Word of God, both the Old and the New Testaments, to be the only infallible rule and guide for the Christian’s faith, doctrine and life. The purpose of this Church will be, in harmony with the Word of God, to labor for the salvation of souls, the edification of the saints and growth in the Grace of God.



Requirements

• Senior Pastor – We currently have an Interim Pastor through IPM

• Youth Pastor

• Children’s Ministry Director (part time)

• Office Administrator (part time)

• Custodian (part time)


Overseer Board

While the ECEFC is congregational in its form in the sense that all leaders are accountable to the

congregation, the administrative responsibilities and authority of the congregation are delegated to the Overseer Board. The Overseer Board is made up of nine ECEFC members, 1/3 of which are elected annually for a three-year term. A member may not be elected for more than two three-year consecutive terms and must not be a board member for at least one year before being eligible again. The Senior Pastor is a voting member of the Overseer Board.


The Candidate

The Senior Pastor shall know Christ as his personal Savior and be living an exemplary life in accordance with scriptural guidelines for church leaders. He will be sound in his faith and doctrine and qualified to preach and teach the Word of God as led by the Holy Spirit.

The Senior Pastor is hired by the congregation. The Pastor and the Overseer Board, led by the Holy Spirit are together responsible for the spiritual direction and vision of the church. The Pastor shall proclaim and model a life of prayer, love, and care for the congregation. He shall lead the church in evangelizing the lost and discipling the believers.


Some of the duties of the Senior Pastor will include:

• Preaching and teaching

• Plan worship services with the Worship Ministry Team

• Participate in a small group

• Serve communion at least four times per year with the help of the Deacons

• Be available to officiate weddings, funerals, baby dedications, and baptisms

• Provide counseling as needed by the congregation

• Maintain office hours

• Visit members of the congregation and visitors (some of these duties may be delegated to the Pastoral Staff and Deacons/Deaconesses)

• Lead Pastoral Staff and hold regular staff meetings

• Meet at least monthly with the Overseer Board

• Conduct and oversee membership classes as needed

• Conduct annual staff evaluations and participate in his own evaluation conducted by members of the Overseer Board

• Be active within the community as the Holy Spirit leads

• Other duties as developed with leadership

• The Senior Pastor is an ex-officio member of all church committees, except a Senior Pastor Search Committee


The Qualifications

• Has 5+ years of teaching/preaching experience

• Preferably has served in an E-Free church

• He is 35-55 years old

• He grew up in the mid-west and in a rural area. His family has lived, or wants to live, in a rural

area.

• He has been married for 5+ years.

• He has kids, some school age.

• If he has adult children they should be walking with the Lord. If not, what is he doing to bring

them back?

• He and his family want to assimilate into the community, being involved with community

events, sports, etc.
