Job Description
Position Summary
As part of the Next Gen Department at River Valley Church, the Youth Pastor is responsible for overseeing all elements of ministry to youth at the campus, from 6th grade through 12th grade. This includes overseeing all things pertaining to Youth services, events, and administration. This position also acts as the lead for all Youth specific interns at the Woodbury campus.
As part of the Woodbury campus team, the Associate Campus Pastor is responsible for providing Campus and Team leadership, assisting with Operational oversight of the campus, Pastoral Care, and Connections support, all under the direction of the Campus Pastor. This position is the first go-to when the campus pastor is unavailable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Youth Pastor/Associate Campus Pastor is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:
Youth Pastor
  • Be directly accountable to the Lead Youth Pastor
    • Aid in developing corporate youth strategy; champion the vision
    • Fill out and submit weekly Youth Reports
    • Participate and be in attendance at Youth Pastor meetings
    • Develop and attend all campus youth leader meetings
  • Responsible for the organization and running of the youth ministry at your respective campus.
    • Preach for YTH at their campus for the majority of Wednesday night services.
    • Strategically develop the campus' youth ministry
    • Create and develop Leadership Teams for Youth Group that will serve on Wednesdays, at YTH+, and for all outreach and Global Project efforts
      • Recruit new leaders
      • Build connections with leaders to increase the longevity of their service and encourage their ongoing growth and development as a leader.
      • Send out an email to all Youth Leaders with a service agenda and what to expect prior to the Wednesday night youth services.
      • Send out a weekly recap of Wednesday night youth services to your leadership team every Thursday
    • Coordinate and plan Wednesday night youth services
      • Participate in message planning meetings and weekly production meetings when possible
        • Weekly collaboration with other Youth Pastors on message content to ensure the focus is presented cohesively
      • Plan the visuals for the message, as necessary
      • Direct the room and stage set up for Wednesday night service
      • Act as point person for Wednesday night structure
      • Key all connect cards into the church database (ROCK) in a timely manner
    • Develop interns and engage them with an excellent ministry experience
    • Be available for counseling needs with student leaders, students and their families.
    • Steward campus budget and submit expense reimbursements as necessary on a monthly basis.
  • Recruit students, coordinate your respective campus' signups, and attend as needed large campus-wide youth events i.e. Youth Camp, Minnesota Youth Convention (MYC), Revival Nights, Youth Conference, etc.)
  • Other Campus-specific duties, as directed by the Campus Pastor.
  • Lead or co-lead a youth Global Team, as needed.

Associate Campus Pastor Role
Weekend Responsibilities
  • Attend the weekend service planning meeting
  • Demonstrate Front Row Leadership by being on time and leading engagement
  • Pastoral point for any problems or concerns that arise during weekend services
  • Pastoral liaison for in-service security
  • Work lobby and serve team areas before and after service, making it a priority to connect and encourage serve team members, leaders, and coaches
  • Assist in leading pre-service huddle
  • Be on time and lead engagement for staff, volunteers, and attenders
  • Be available, as needed, for platform announcements

Campus Leadership
  • Provide Campus Leadership in the event the Campus Pastor is unavailable.
  • Attend all campus deacon meetings
  • Be intentional about building relationships with the campus deacons, ministry leaders and volunteers
  • Identify, recruit and help develop new volunteer leaders

Connections Support
  • Champion and support connections related programming (i.e. Small Groups, Serve Teams, Serve Our Community, and Welcome Home groups)
  • Identify, recruit, and develop new small group and serve team volunteers and leaders, alongside the Connections Pastor
  • Lead Core groups, as needed
  • Pastoral support for Water Baptisms
  • Pastoral support for Men's Ministry Events
  • Pastoral support for Global Project at the campus

Pastoral Care
  • Help identify problems, find solutions and handle conflicts within the campus. Keep Campus Pastor informed and involved as needed.
  • Pastoral point of contact for all benevolence requests
  • Be available for Pastoral Care requests (i.e. mentoring and/or counseling meetings, hospital visits, funerals, etc.) from church attendees as needed.

Campus Operations
  • Work with Central staff, as needed, on building needs, repairs, landscaping, HVAC issues, snow removal, etc. under the direction of the Campus pastor
  • Execute decisions as needed for set up, tear down, and overall execution of various events occurring on and off campus.

Qualifications
  • Proficient in administrative and leadership skills
  • Experience in managing teams and developing others
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in public speaking
  • Solid sermon-writing skills, including understanding of Biblical exposition skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to raise up leaders (reproduce yourself)

Education
A four year Bachelor's Degree is strongly encouraged, with preference given to a pastoral or other ministry-related degree. Qualified Candidates should either have ministerial credentials or be working towards obtaining credentials. Credentials with the Assemblies of God are preferred.
Experience
Successful candidate should have at least 3 to 5 years related ministry experience.
