Job description

Job Summary:

The Assistant Operator supports the extrusion coating process in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Assistant Operator assists the Extruder Operator & Lead Operator in preparing assets for production, operation of equipment as well as monitoring and maintaining extrusion coating equipment to ensure production and quality standards are achieved.

Must be willing to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Every Other Sunday, 6:45PM to 7AM. $1.00 per hour incentive bonus applies to this shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and comprehend Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required to meet production standards.
  • Assists in the setup and operation of extrusion coating assets according to product specifications including the use of metric and standard tape measures.
  • Load/unload and transport materials to designated areas with lift trucks and stand ups.
  • Maintains a three-year certification in sit down and stand-up lift trucks.
  • Prepares raw materials and packaging supplies to ensure timely supply to support the production asset.
  • Monitor production parameters (e.g., temperature, speeds, tension setpoints, material levels, pressures, etc.) and report abnormalities.
  • Performs cleaning and operational maintenance of equipment to reduce downtime and improve uptime/throughput.
  • Label, store and record finished goods.
  • Adhere to company safety protocols and ensure cleanliness of the work area by following departmental housekeeping standards including wearing required PPE.
  • Communicate effectively with peers as required (leadership, operators, maintenance, and quality).
  • Reports unsafe working conditions to leadership.
  • Demonstrates time management, team player attitude and multitasking in the working environment.
  • Demonstrates and dedicated to a continuous improvement work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), one to three years of experience preferred.
  • Ability to read production tickets.
  • Ability to perform math calculations including fractions.
  • Ability to use a tape measure.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be able to lift fifty pounds, bend, stretch, or stand for extended periods of time.
