Job Description

Learn all aspects of the bubble extrusion operation (plastic extrusion) and operate the bubble extruder as directed by the operator and management. The successful candidate must be willing to switch shifts in order to cover vacation, sickness, overtime or any other situation where it is deemed necessary by management. This position operates in a team environment and is required to assist others as necessary.

The successful candidate must be able to maintain the production, quality, safety and housekeeping standards.  It is mandatory that the candidate know, understand, and follow all Sealed Air’s policies that pertain to the Brampton manufacturing facility. Training will be provided.

Shift/Hours: Afternoon – 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM

Hourly Rate: $24.30 with $.70 Shift Premium – Upon successful completion of the 90-day probationary period, the hourly wage will increase to $26.30 with $.70 Shift Premium.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Assist equipment operation to produce finished goods to production specifications. 
  • Understand and be able to safely STOP equipment during normal conditions and during an emergency. 
  • Assist in setting machine up to SOC using the appropriate conditions 
  • Use a computer system to set run conditions and adjust as necessary within SOC 
  • Perform Line start up and Line shut down 
  • Understand and safely operate extruders 
  • Follow all training documents or standard operating procedures (SOP) to safely and efficiently operate the line 
  • Ability to use production reporting systems to fulfill job functions 
  • Always safely operate quality testing equipment 
  • Understand all quality testing equipment and be able to operate and adjust as necessary to safely test film samples.

Other Requirements 

  • Assist Maintenance and Team Performance Lead in trouble shooting. 
  • Follow the production schedule as issued by production control. 
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and recycling practices in your work area  
  • Complete all required computer and paperwork 
  • Participate in scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities 
  • Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hearing protection, safety glasses, bump cap, gloves, and safety shoes.   Also wear any additional safety PPE as required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening)
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Reliable attendance record
  • Team player with the ability to work well with others
  • Able to follow directions from the Coex Operator
  • 1–3 years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • Extrusion experience preferred
