Position: Office Engineer

Reports to: Project Manager/Resident Engineer


General Qualities:

- Proactive self-starter capable of setting a positive example for the staff.

- Provides technical support to the Project Manager/Resident Engineer.

Technical Responsibilities:

- Provide day-to-day technical and administrative support to the Project Manager/Resident Engineer to ensure successful project execution.

- Manage and maintain all project documentation and controls, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and correspondence.

- Oversee and maintain accurate logs and tracking systems for RFIs, submittals, delays, and change orders to ensure compliance and transparency.

- Perform engineering quantity take-offs and calculations to support contractor payments and cost tracking.

- Prepare, review, and process monthly estimates, progress payments, and force account documentation.

- Review and validate inspection reports, field quantities, and cost data for accuracy and completeness.

- Support the preparation and submission of change orders, ensuring proper documentation and justification.

- Coordinate with NYCDDC, city agencies, contractors, and utility companies to facilitate project progress and resolve issues.

- Track and manage punch list items, ensuring timely completion and project closeout readiness.

- Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and close-out documentation.

- Prepare progress reports, meeting minutes, and project updates for internal and client stakeholders.

- Ensure all documentation aligns with NYCDDC standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.

- Act as a key point of coordination between field and office teams, ensuring efficient communication and workflow.

Requirements:

Educational Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field is required


Experience:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in as office engineer or construction inspection or infrastructure project management

- Prior NYCDDC experience is required

- Certifications such as NICET III or IV are highly preferred


Physical Requirements:

- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods (often 6–8 hours a day).

- Maintaining posture while working at a computer.

- Short periods of standing or walking within the office (to printers, meeting rooms, etc.).
