Job description

The Opportunity: ML6 has partnered with a manufacturing organization in Maryland in their search for an Assistant Division Controller to join their rapidly growing organization. The Assistant Division Controller supports the financial leadership of a multi-site manufacturing division with annual revenues exceeding $200M. This role partners closely with the Division Controller to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective operational financial support across multiple facilities. The Assistant Division Controller plays a key role in driving financial integrity, improving processes, and supporting strategic decision-making. What You'll Be Doing: Financial Reporting & Close
  • Assist in leading the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for multiple manufacturing sites
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain accurate application of ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Prepare or review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations to divisional and corporate leadership
Cost Accounting & Operations Support
  • Oversee and support product costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing variance analysis
  • Partner with plant finance teams and operations leadership to improve cost visibility and margin performance
  • Monitor inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
  • Support capital project tracking and fixed asset accounting
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Help maintain a strong internal control environment across all sites
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and audit requirements
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation of documentation and responses
  • Assist in developing and improving financial policies, procedures, and systems
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles
  • Support financial modeling and ad hoc analysis for operational and strategic initiatives
  • Provide actionable financial insights to operations and senior leadership
Team Leadership & Development
  • Provide guidance and oversight to plant accountants and other finance staff
  • Promote consistency in accounting practices across sites
  • Support training and development of finance personnel within the division
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Participate as a key core team member for ERP implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve data accuracy
  • Participate in ERP enhancements, system implementations, or reporting tool improvements
  • Champion best practices in financial reporting and operational finance
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or multi-site environment
  • Experience with ASC 606 compliance
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with cost accounting and inventory in a manufacturing setting
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with implementation of ERP systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • MBA, CPA designation, or active CPA candidate would be preferred
  • Experience in a company with $200M+ in annual revenue
