POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Controller is a key financial leader responsible for all accounting, financial reporting, and internal control functions for a multi-state manufacturer and retailer of portable buildings, including a large and growing Rent-to-Own (RTO) portfolio. This role ensures the integrity of financial data, supports operational scalability, and provides leadership across manufacturing, retail, and RTO accounting functions. The Controller partners closely with the CFO and operational leaders to drive profitability, optimize working capital, and support strategic growth initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements across multiple entities and states in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure audit-ready financials with strong documentation and reconciliation practices
  • Ensure proper financial controls
  • Establish accounting policies and procedures
  • Work closely with FP and A to produce actual, budgeted, and forecasted financial information
  • Oversee accounting for a large RTO portfolio, including:
  • Cost accounting for inventory
  • Revenue recognition for retail sales
  • Deferred revenue and receivables accounting
  • Portfolio aging, collections tracking, and reserve analysis
  • Establish and monitor allowance for doubtful accounts
  • Partner with CFO and Operations to optimize RTO portfolio performance and cash flow
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment within NetSuite, including system configuration and reporting
  • Lead all cost accounting functions for manufacturing operations
  • Standard costing and variance analysis
  • Bill of materials management
  • Labor and overhead allocation
  • Oversee inventory accounting

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Master's degree in Accounting or CPA designation strongly preferred
  • 8-12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership roles
  • Prior experience in:
  • Manufacturing
  • Cost Accounting
  • Rent-to-Own, leasing, or installment based revenue models (preferred)
  • Multi-entity, multi-state operations
  • Highly proficient in Excel and financial modeling
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes
  • Extensive hands-on experience with an ERP (preferably NetSuite)
