Hyster-Yale Materials Handling Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Assistant Plant Controller based at our Berea, KY facility.
What You Will Do;
  • Lead and oversee financial reporting activities, ensuring compliance throughout the department.
  • Support the Plant Controller and other plant management in maximizing plant and business results while providing oversight for all manufacturing accounting functions and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements, and state and federal laws by creating, reviewing, editing, and auditing financial transactions.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reporting, lead month-end closing activities, compute monthly financial results, and reconcile accounts.
  • Prepare and oversee the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Short-Term Forecast (STF), and Long-Range Financial Forecast (LRFF), while analyzing and explaining financial variances.
  • Participate in the development, reporting, and analysis of product costs, and provide financial analysis to support plant financial targets and key business decisions.
  • Manage payroll, accounts payable, financial review of capital expenditures, foreign currency transactions and revaluations, property tax returns, and make-versus-buy analyses.
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal and external auditors by providing audit documentation, supporting Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance activities, and addressing audit inquiries and findings.
  • Provide leadership by coaching, training, mentoring, and developing the plant finance team while assisting with special projects.

What You Will Need - Education;
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant and/or Master of Business Administration preferred.

Skills Experience & Abilities:
  • Seven or more years of relevant accounting and finance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and applicable governmental laws.
  • Experience with SAP, including uploads and builds.
  • Cost accounting and product costing experience.
  • Financial modeling and reporting experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to effectively interface and communicate with senior management and employees throughout the organization.

Additional Information:
  • Support the Plant Controller's office in providing financial insight that enables plant management to make informed operating decisions.
  • Create, administer, and maintain company policies and procedures that ensure adequate internal controls and safeguard plant assets, including inventory integrity and fixed asset controls.
  • Lead the month-end financial close process by reviewing and approving the work of team members to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and support monthly operating reviews, Annual Operating Plans, and Long-Range Financial Forecast presentations for senior leadership.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for internal and external auditors by providing requested information and resolving audit findings in a timely manner.
  • Monitor financial performance by providing analysis of month-end results, prior-year forecasts, and key financial trends.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned in support of the accounting and finance function.
