Job description

IT Support Engineer Greater San Diego Area | On-Site | $105,000-$125,000 Base

Arena Staffing has partnered with a confidential, well-established company Near Vista San Diego area that is hiring an IT Support Engineer to run day-to-day IT and business-application support from its local headquarters.

This is a hands-on, on-site individual contributor role with approximately 80% focused on business-application support and 20% on traditional IT and end-user support. The ideal candidate has experience supporting ERP, CRM, e-commerce, SaaS, shipping, or other enterprise applications and understands how technology supports departments such as Accounting, Customer Service, Operations, and Distribution.

Why This Role Is Worth Considering

  • High-visibility role working closely with the CTO, executives, and department leaders
  • Strong focus on business applications rather than traditional help desk support
  • Exposure to ERP, e-commerce, shipping systems, integrations, endpoint support, and IT operations
  • Opportunity to work across Accounting, Customer Service, Distribution, HR, and other departments
  • Hands-on ownership of issues from initial request through final resolution
  • Stable, established Southern California employer with multiple local locations
  • Opportunity to improve documentation, processes, runbooks, and knowledge-base content
  • Environment that values curiosity, critical thinking, communication, and resourcefulness

Role Snapshot

Title: IT Support Engineer

Location: Greater San Diego Area

Schedule: Full-time, on-site 5 days per week

Travel: Approximately 10-15%, primarily to a nearby Escondido location, with occasional travel to Anaheim

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

Role Type: Individual Contributor

Compensation: $105,000-$120,000 base, with potential flexibility up to approximately $125,000 for exceptional experience

What You Will Do

Business-Application Support, Approximately 80%

  • Provide front-end support for ERP, CRM, e-commerce, SaaS, shipping, and other business-critical applications.
  • Support user accounts, permissions, configuration, access, workflows, and application-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot problems affecting Accounting, Customer Service, Distribution, Operations, and other departments.
  • Determine whether an issue is related to the user, data, configuration, application, integration, workstation, or another connected system.
  • Troubleshoot ERP and e-commerce order, synchronization, workflow, and integration issues.
  • Support shipping stations, printers, labels, FedEx-related systems, and connected Distribution applications.
  • Resolve front-end issues when possible and escalate deeper problems with clear screenshots, reproduction steps, troubleshooting notes, priority, and business impact.
  • Coordinate with ERP specialists, software vendors, MSPs, database resources, and other application partners until issues are fully resolved.
  • Learn unfamiliar applications and workflows using documentation, online resources, and AI tools.

IT and End-User Support, Approximately 20%

  • Serve as the professional, on-site face of IT for employees, executives, and department leaders.
  • Support Windows and macOS computers in a mixed-device environment.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, printers, peripherals, conference-room technology, and user-access issues.
  • Manage walk-up requests, support tickets, remote support, asset tracking, and device readiness.
  • Partner with HR on onboarding, offboarding, equipment preparation, account provisioning, and access changes.
  • Support SSO, MFA, identity provisioning, and access management.
  • Maintain accurate IT documentation, runbooks, escalation procedures, user guides, and knowledge-base content.
  • Provide limited after-hours support for critical business interruptions or outages.

What You Need to Bring

  • Approximately 5-8 years of hands-on IT support, desktop support, IT operations, or related experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience supporting or administering an ERP, CRM, e-commerce, SaaS, or other enterprise business application.
  • Experience troubleshooting business-application issues for departments outside of IT.
  • Ability to understand business workflows and how systems affect upstream and downstream processes.
  • Experience troubleshooting connected or integrated systems.
  • Experience coordinating with MSPs, software vendors, or outside technical experts through resolution.
  • Multi-site IT support experience.
  • Strong Windows and macOS support skills.
  • Experience with ticketing systems, endpoint support, remote support, asset tracking, hardware, printers, and peripherals.
  • Familiarity with cloud productivity platforms, SSO, MFA, directory services, identity provisioning, and access control.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy is helpful.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, organization, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective while managing walk-up support, tickets, executive needs, and competing priorities.

Nice to Have

  • Manufacturing, medical device, dental, life sciences, or other regulated-industry experience
  • Computer system validation, CSV, or 21 CFR Part 11 exposure
  • MSP-backed or multi-vendor IT environment experience
  • Low-code or no-code application support
  • PowerShell, Bash, Python, scripting, or automation experience
  • Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, or similar tools for troubleshooting, documentation, or productivity
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, ITIL, cloud, identity, endpoint, or related certifications
