Job description

Knife River has an opening for an Aggregate Sales position in our Northern Idaho area. This position will establish good relationships with current customers, contact potential customers, create lasting customer relationships in order to obtain maximum volumes and profitability from concrete and aggregate sales.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  1. Make direct calls on customers. Assist customers regarding service pricing, order taking, merchandising and product training as needed.
  2. Market products and services to new accounts such as contractors, sub-contractors, government agencies, supply houses, developers, to solicit new business.
  3. Handles inside and outside sales of products. Follow through on potential sales leads including obtaining necessary information such as job specifications and take off of projects.
  4. Develop product knowledge through value added sales, trade shows, customer questions, and product quality resolution. Ability to identify best product for customer needs and advise.
  5. Prepare quotes/bids for projects using appropriate worksheets that provide company unit prices. Discuss costs and schedule with operating divisions as well as providing project opportunities and challenges and other project information advice to appropriate internal staff.
  6. Follow through on customer satisfaction on jobs awarded. Monitor product quality during delivery and installation.
  7. Communicate effectively
  8. May need to deliver aggregate samples to project owner engineer when required.
  9. Facilitate pre-construction, construction and post-construction meetings with appropriate internal staff as demanded by the complexity of projects awarded.
  10. Immediately report concerns regarding billing, credit, deliver and quality of product to appropriate internal departments and coordinate meetings with other departments, as needed, to address customer concerns.
  11. Attends seminars to develop product knowledge.
  12. Reads trade journals, newspapers, and other publications to be informed of new developments in the construction industry, government or the community.
  13. Pick up payments from customers as necessary to prevent COD status or late charges.
  14. Assists billing clerk.
  15. Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High School or GED equivalent.
  2. Experience in a related field (Sales, Aggregate Production or Concrete) preferred but not required.
  3. Intermediate computer skills required.
  4. Good customer service skills.
  5. Good communication skills including verbal and written.
  6. Ability to handle multiple priorities with short deadlines.

Successful candidates to be subjected to a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
