Position Description
Position: Aggregate Quality Control Manager
Division: Brannan Aggregates
Reports To: Division Manager
Location: Various locations across Colorado, home base Denver, CO
Status: Salary Exempt
Position Summary:
The Aggregate Quality Control Manager oversees all quality control operations across the Aggregates Division, ensuring consistent production of in-specification materials at all pit locations. This position manages a team of QC technicians, implements comprehensive testing protocols for pit run and finished products, and maintains authority to direct production adjustments to meet quality standards. The role combines hands-on quality assurance leadership with data management, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize product quality and customer satisfaction.
Core Responsibilities:
  1. Quality Control Management
  • Lead and develop QC technicians across all pit locations
  • Establish daily testing schedules for pit run and finished products
  • Direct immediate corrective actions for out-of-spec material
  • Provide real-time guidance to production teams to maintain specification compliance
  • Develop and maintain QC protocols and standard operating procedures
  1. Testing and Compliance
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of all required quality tests
  • Oversee CDOT, municipal, and commercial specification testing
  • Maintain compliance with MSHA, CDOT, and environmental standards
  • Coordinate third-party testing and certifications
  • Review and approve quality certificates for customer shipments
  1. Data Management and Reporting
  • Track, analyze, and report quality data using appropriate systems
  • Maintain comprehensive QC records and historical data
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports for leadership
  • Identify trends and implement proactive quality improvements
  • Integrate QC data into Command Center dashboards for visibility
  1. Operational Integration
  • Partner with operations on blast design, crusher settings and screen configurations
  • Support reserve evaluation and mine planning with quality insight
  • Collaborate with sales on customer specifications
  • Support Ready Mix and Asphalt divisions
  • Participate in customer visits and quality audits
  1. Systems, Equipment and Improvement
  • Maintain testing equipment, calibration and lab facilities
  • Oversee Loadrite integration and QC technologies
  • Implement continuous improvement and ISO-aligned systems
  • Develop training programs for QC and production team

Success Measures:
  • 95% first-pass specification compliance
  • Reduced customer quality complaints and faster resolution
  • 100% regulatory testing compliance
  • Timely and accurate quality documentation
  • Zero safety incidents within the QC operations

Position Requirements
Qualifications:
  1. Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Mining Engineering or related filed
  • 5+ years in aggregate quality control or materials testing
  • Working knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO and CDOT standards
  • Experience with aggregate production processes
  1. Technical Expertise
  • Quality data systems and reporting tools
  • Statistical process control and quality analysis
  • Geological impacts on aggregate performance
  • Crushing, screening and washing operations
  1. Leadership and Communication
  • Proven experience leading technical teams
  • Strong judgement and authority to stop production when needed
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, regulators and internal partners
  1. Preferred Certifications
  • CDOT Aggregate Certification
  • ACI Aggregate Testing Technician
  • MSHA Part 46 or 48
  • Six Sigma or Similar

  • Outdoor quarry environment in all weather conditions
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs, walking on uneven terrain
