Job description

The Advertising Manager serves as a key sales leader driving advertising revenue growth across print and digital platforms for Summerville Communications. This is an active, customer-facing role focused on coaching and developing a team of account executives, acquiring new business across Dorchester and Berkeley Counties and personally managing a select portfolio of accounts. This position is charged with exceeding advertising revenue budgets through thoughtful sales leadership. The ideal candidate blends strong team leadership and strategic sales planning with a passion for field work, client presentations and creative marketing solutions.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Sales Leadership & Team Management

Direct, mentor and coach account executives to consistently achieve monthly and annual revenue targets with an emphasis on new business development and incremental account growth in Dorchester and Berkeley Counties, driving account executives in consistent cold calling, cold emails, client needs assessments and long-term partnership presentations.

  • Spend 50%+ of time in the field participating in client discovery meetings, pitch presentations and joint prospecting calls with Account Executives.
  • Conduct regular 1-on-1s with direct reports and facilitate weekly sales meetings, trainings and team strategy sessions.
  • Foster an aggressive, proactive, professional and creative sales culture focused on new business acquisition.

Revenue Generation & Strategy

  • Drive new account acquisition and incremental revenue growth across Dorchester and Berkeley Counties.
  • Conceptualize and execute high-impact sales initiatives, event sponsorships and targeted print/digital campaigns.
  • Partner with King & Columbus, Summerville Communications' internal full-service marketing agency, to identify and secure agency clients.
  • Develop gap filler strategies with Account Executives to ensure individual and team sales budgets are met.
  • Personally manage and grow an assigned personal book of business.

Operations, CRM & Reporting

  • Utilize HubSpot CRM for pipeline management, activity tracking, process standardization and client management.
  • Conduct weekly revenue flashing for Summerville Communications.
  • Continually evaluate go-to-market strategies and competitive media landscapes to maintain market share and identify growth opportunities.
  • Participate in Evening Post Publishing advertising management meetings as needed.

Community & Client Engagement

  • Build and maintain high-level relationships with key advertising partners and strategic business accounts.
  • Represent Summerville Communications at local business, community and networking events to build brand visibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field preferred.

2-4 years of marketing or media sales experience required with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.

Experience securing, managing and growing medium-to-large clients.

Demonstrated experience in media sales coaching, team training or direct management.

History of consultative selling approach across print and digital platforms.

Candidate should be proficient with Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a team environment is essential.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, customers, clients and other employees in the organization is required.

Must have strong interpersonal skills and be comfortable presenting data-driven proposals to business leaders.

Basic understanding of financial metrics, budgeting, and sales forecasting.
