Job description

Job Title: Talent Acquisition Assistant
Pay: $18-$20 per hour
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Human Resources Manager
Company Summary: Midwest Petroleum is a retail petroleum and convenience store chain based in St. Louis, Mo. We began operating in 1946, and since 2002, the St. Louis Business Journal has recognized us as one of the top 150 privately owned businesses in St. Louis. Midwest Petroleum operates 60 stores within a 150-mile radius that employs approximately 600 employees. Midwest Petroleum markets fuel through the ZX, Conoco, and Phillips 66 brands.
Primary Purpose of Job: The Talent Acquisition Assistant is responsible for sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding candidates for both Midwest Petroleum Company retail and corporate positions. The Talent Acquisition Assistant will work closely with the entire department to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations with regards to the benefits program, hiring practices, file maintenance, and claims. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization and is sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the needs of our retail locations. Assists with other department administrative tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create/update open company job postings for all MPC locations, including the corporate office.
  • Conduct phone screens for all candidates.
  • Send and review all pre-employment screenings and approve prospective candidates for hire if they pass screenings.
  • Schedule in-person interviews with the store manager.
  • Send out onboarding links for new hires.
  • Administer exit interviews for retail staff and analyze results.
  • Administer new hire follow-up calls to help improve retention.
  • Assist with hiring on-site at our retail locations as needed.
  • Assist with personnel file maintenance.
  • Engage with new hires, to ensure employees gain an understanding of the Midwest Petroleum Company philosophy of service.
  • Conduct wage surveys as requested.
  • Help design job marketing materials.
  • Compile recruiting reports as required.
  • Maintain ATS and Employee HRI’s.
  • Find and attend recruitment events.
  • Conduct hiring events when necessary.
  • Assist with auditing the new hire training program each quarter.
  • Handle any other work that can be assigned at the supervisor's discretion.
Education/Experience Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Human Resources or equivalent field Bachelor's Degree is preferred
Clean driving record
Convenience store or other retail experience is preferred

Physical Requirements This position is performed in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to general office equipment, beverage equipment, coolers, and any other site-specific equipment/factors. You could also encounter exposure to hazardous materials and loud noises. This job requires the ability to walk, stand, bend, and reach regularly. Must be able to frequently be required to lift, push, or pull weight of at least 5 to 75 pounds. Ability to work in different Midwest Petroleum Stations.
