Job Overview

GTBM, Inc. provides public safety technology solutions to law enforcement and other public safety agencies throughout New Jersey. We are seeking an experienced Installation Specialist / Emergency Vehicle Upfitter to install and service public safety equipment in police, fire, EMS and municipal vehicles.

This role is well suited for candidates with experience in emergency vehicle upfitting, fleet installation, 12-volt electrical systems or related vehicle technology installation work.

Responsibilities

  • Install and service public safety equipment in fleet vehicles.
  • Perform 12-volt electrical installations, wiring and troubleshooting.
  • Install mobile computers, docking stations, printers, cameras, automatic license plate readers and related vehicle technologies.
  • Install emergency lighting, sirens, switch controllers and vehicle equipment packages.
  • Diagnose and resolve installation issues while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
  • Travel to customer sites throughout New Jersey for installations and service calls, as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and professional work environment.

Qualifications

Preferred experience:

  • 2 or more years of emergency vehicle upfitting, fleet installation, 12-volt electronics or related experience.
  • Experience with police, fire, EMS or municipal fleet equipment.
  • Familiarity with lights, sirens, controllers and vehicle power management systems.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and installation schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record under company and insurer standards.
  • Ability to travel within New Jersey as needed.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to [insert accurate weight] pounds and work inside vehicle interiors for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation and Benefits

GTBM expects to pay $25.00 to $35.00 per hour for this position, based on experience, qualifications and job-related skills.
