Mechanical or Environmental Engineer / HVAC

We are helping our client, a leading provider of energy efficiency products and services, look for an Environmental Engineer/Energy Engineer in the Buffalo, Ithaca and Rochester area (you must live in this area). This opportunity requires you to have a passion for energy sustainability, renewal and efficiency, specifically this role will be responsible for providing expert technical support to clients. The person selected to fill the Energy Engineer position shall know building science, energy-efficient technologies, energy modeling, and energy codes.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Energy Engineer

Support the development and delivery of energy efficiency programs by providing engineering calculations, building energy simulations, measurement and verification, and utility program technical design and assistance.

Leads design and development of technical strategies, conducts analysis to inform and recommend energy savings, and develops plans and provides reporting that contributes to the success of client programs.

Writes and informs technical documents, publications, and conducts quality review of content.

Provides general project oversight, quality control/assurance, and continuously informs customers and project team of updates and necessary adjustments.

Supports business development efforts; promote, sell and influence property managers, owners and maintenance staff to install energy efficiency measures in multifamily dwellings.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university. (Based on the position preferences may include: Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Industrial Engineering)

• 3-8 years engineering experience related to mechanical design, energy modeling or construction

• 3 year of experience in the energy efficiency industry. A strong understanding of how systems affect energy consumption is required

• Experience in building design, “green” construction and sustainable design

• Preferred • Certified Energy Manager and the LEED AP credentials

• Preferred • CEM or VPI certification

• Preferred • PE or FE certification or desire to obtain one

Required Skills

• Strong Customer Service Skills

• Must be a self starter, communicate effectively bother verbally and in writing and handle a variety of work

• Proficient in Microsoft Suite

• Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions
