Essential Functions:

The Career Specialist establishes, coordinates, and maintains relationships with employers,
reentry, and community organizations to develop and match qualified clients with employment
opportunities and supportive services. Works closely with the Baton Rouge Region Reentry Team, the
Louisiana Department of Corrections, and other partner agencies to ensure participants are engaged
and supported. Coordinates day to day activities such as soliciting employer interest and
involvement in the employment of clients, orienting clients to the services provided, posting
opportunities and tracking.

Responsibilities:
This job requires substantial knowledge of local economic and labor market conditions and trends;
effective techniques for contacting potential employers; community resources and professional
organizations; flexibility, and experience in workforce development, case management or sales and
marketing.

1. Develop contact with potential employers daily/cold calls and face to face meeting.
2. Develop specific job opportunities that match client's skills, work experience, related
training, and interest.
3. Coordinates planning of employment development activities.
4. Collaborate with staff, community resources, jails/prisons, probation, and parole staff to
identify reentry needs and to coordinate services.
5. Make contact with clients/students/employers monthly (follow up on placement of clients).
6. Attend Job/Career Fairs.
7. Ensure the integrity of programmatic and client/student data; and ensure that data is documented
in the agency's client/student information system in real time.
9. Attend monthly meetings tor Workforce as needed.
10. Complete reports as assigned.
11. Participate in Workforce Development Webinars.
12. Work as part of the regional reentry task force and become familiar with and adhere to all.
13. Provide social service referrals to all clients.
14. Serve as a liaison with staff or community partners as needed.
15. Complete other tasks as assigned or needed.

Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to organize, work effectively, conceptualize, and prioritize objectives and exercise
independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
2. Ability to maintain good working relationships with staff, volunteers, clients, and others.
3. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of
procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.
4. Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to complete projects efficiently and
independently.
5. Must have excellent communication skills including verbal, phone, word processing,
email, and internet.
6. Must have good public relations skills and the ability to work with employees and the public.
7. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with, and among, all
personnel.
8. Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
9. Must be able to work occasionally long or extended hours, including weekends.
10. Must be able to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.
11. Must maintain strict confidentiality of all information.

Requirements:
1. BA or BS is preferred.
2. Minimum of three years' experience in professional experience in organizations
involved with project management, social work, employment counseling, placement, human services and
records management.
3. Strong leadership and organizational skills.
4. Entrepreneurial skills, innovative thinking, facilitation, and consensus building skills
Required.
5. Must be able to work well, both independently and as part of a team.
6 Ability to analyze and present data and program information, orally and in writing and in non- technical language.
7. Must be able to receive authorization to provide services in assigned correctional facilities.
8. Must be proficient in operating a computer and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and other social media application.
9. Must provide own transportation.
10. Must be able to clear DMY check.
11. Must possess valid operator's license and maintain current vehicle registration, liability insurance and vehicle inspection.
12. Must be ambulatory.
