Assistant Controller

Oakland County law firm is seeking is looking to hire an experienced Assistant Controller to join their accounting team. 

Candidate must have at least seven years of prior accounting / staff accounting experience that includes collections, general knowledge of accounting principles.  as well as excellent computer skills and a strong desire to learn. 

Primary Responsibilities include:
-       Assist in the preparation of monthly invoices with an emphasis on electronic invoicing.

-       Print Monthly statements and review customer account status.

-       Continually monitoring all open accounts to make sure all accounts are current.

-       Communicate with external clients to resolve specific collection/payment issues.

-       Report any unresolved issues to ensure proper guidance.

-       Prepare ad hoc reports on an as needed basis. 

-       Ability to work in Surepoint/LMS accounting software on a daily basis.

-       Ability to drive standardization and improvement in the accounting department.

-       Ability to be flexible and responsive to new or special projects assigned to the accounting group.

-       Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.

Requirements:

-       Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration.

-       Three to four years’ experience working in public accounting or private industry.

-       Proficient in all of Microsoft 2007-2010 Office Suite programs, especially Excel.
