Job Description

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Programmer/Analyst's role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new software
applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes writing,
coding, testing, analyzing software applications and management of purchased/cloud
applications. The Programmer/Analyst will also research, design, document, and modify
software specifications throughout the software life cycle.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
 Carry out fact-finding and programming analysis of problems, and determining the most
appropriate procedures to resolve.
 Providing technical advice and support to users, including creating ad-hoc reports, data
analysis, and correction, training and problem solving.
 Consults with users to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions,
features, and input and output requirements.
 Analyzes, defines, and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes,
hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and
external checks and controls, and outputs.
 Writes and maintains technical specifications.
 Develops and maintains plans outlining steps and time tables for developing programs.
 Researches and evaluates software and hardware to assist in programming or to use as
program platforms.
 Designs and codes screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs, and
interfaces with other systems.
 Creates test transactions and runs tests to find errors and confirm programs meet
specifications.
 Analyzes code to find causes of errors and revises programs.
 Consults with users to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs.
 Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding,
testing, changes, and corrections.


SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Other duties as assigned
2. Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs.
3. Working hours are normally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, unless after
hour support is required. A NAS phone may be issued for support after hours.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
 Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or
technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 Highly self-motivated.
 Keen attention to detail.
 Solid understanding of database principles.
 Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
 Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
 Must be self-motivated and capable of learning programming languages in a short
amount of time.
 Clear ability and desire to adapt to changing work environments along with self
discipline needed to meet deadlines.
 Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures and define software
development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
 Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies.
 Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

 AS400/ISeries/IBM I Rpgle Development
 Synon 2E / CA Plex
 Relational Database / SQL
 JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
 Basic understanding of EDI.
 Salesforce
 Web design / HTML / javascript
 Qlik Sense or Qlik View


PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:
 Mobility in plant
 While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand,
walk, etc.
 The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks
 The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
 Visual ability with or without correction
 Communication abilities


HEALTH AND SAFETY:
1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
2. Follow Company safety rules
3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor
or Manager immediately
4. Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or
worn:
a. Safety shoes
b. Safety glasses
c. Hearing protection
d. Hard Hat
Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:
e. Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with
company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
f. Fire Retardant clothing
g. Acid PPE
5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the
Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy
6. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines
7. Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations
8. Maintain a clean and safe work area


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
2. Clean, well ventilated and safe work areas.
