Medical Assistant

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments to maintain our medical practice and cultivate a one of a kind patient care experience. The purpose of the medical assistant position is to provide patient education, coordination, and scheduling for plastic surgery procedures.  Assists physician and staff in coordinating patient care.  Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physician.

Responsibilities:

• Discusses cosmetic consultations and cosmetic procedures with prospective patients over the phone, via email and in person 
• Prequalifies prospective patients and schedules cosmetic consultations

• See all patients in the office with the surgeon for pre-op, post op visit

• Answer patient wound care / dressing questions 

• Perform Vital sign assessment of patients 

• Assist in suture and drain removal

• Prepare injections such as neurotoxin, filler 

• Set up sterile field for in office surgical procedures 

• Conducts regular follow-up protocols for each patient

• Accompanies the surgeon while he/she is examining cosmetic  and reconstructive patients, if a chaperone is needed

• Assist patient in signing consents 

• Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms 

• Stock exam rooms with all supplies needed

• Take medical photographs of patients for EMR

• Send in booking sheets / materials requests for surgery 

• Follow up on patient medical / cardiac clearance for surgery

• Perform Autoclave sterilization of instruments 

• Maintain autoclave as per manufacturer guidelines

• Maintain autoclave sterilization records

• Be the first call to answer patient medical questions, pre and post op

• Assists in minor surgical procedures in the office

• Maintain / record vital signs during office surgical procedures

• Performs breast implant sizing and ordering; measures patient for surgical garments and orders in a timely fashion

​Qualifications:

• Previous experience in healthcare settings or other related fields
• Familiarity with medical billing procedures
• Strong organizational skills
• Eager to learn
• Plastic or Dermatology experience preferred
