Assistant Controller - Manufacturing

The Senior Accountant will be reporting to the Director of Finance and be responsible for evaluating transactions and records to the GL to ensure the financials are accurate and complete. This role will have responsibility for the completion of balance sheets reconciliations and income statement analysis. Identify process problems and propose improvements and courses of action.

Duties

* Support the monthly accounting close process, calculate, review, and process journal entries and ensure that the general ledger is complete & accurate and closed timely in accordance with internal and external reporting requirements

* Maintain and reconcile fixed assets to the general ledger of the company

* Responsible for sales and use tax including in preparation of returns, submissions, exemptions, and related certificates, taxability analysis, and reconciliations

* Responsible for inventory management tracking and reporting with focus on reducing slow moving and obsolete stock and supporting periodic inventory cycle counts and adjustments

* Review and approve costing of materials

* Responsible for daily cash management including agreeing terms with suppliers and customers

* Analyze variances on material, labor, and overhead and communicate explanations to management with recommended actions to improve profitability

* Work closely with the finance team to ensure standardized monthly balance sheet reconciliations are prepared and reviewed in accordance with policy

* Responsible for maintaining complete and accurate financial records for the plant in accordance with GAAP and IFRS

* Assists with internal and external audits

Qualifications

* Bachelors Degree in Accounting

* Five plus years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment

* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
