Summary

The Senior Accountant contributes to meeting Langham’s pursuit of exceptional customer service, both internally and externally, quality, process improvement, and profitability. This is achieved by assisting the Director of Accounting in various accounting functions that include analyzing financial statements to ensure compliance, overseeing financial reports, executing complex and routine accounting transactions accurately and on time, and actively participating in month-end and year-end close processes.

The Senior Accountant will also review and analyze current processes for improvements within the department. While various responsibilities, activities, and tasks performed in the accounting department are assigned to specific individuals, daily responsibilities may shift from time to time as requested by the Director of Accounting. The ability to work within a team environment is critical.

Evaluation of Performance

Performance will be evaluated based on meeting the requirements of the job description; meeting performance metrics and other quality indicators established for this position; working according to specifications, policies, and standards established by Langham; working effectively in a team environment; and providing a high level of internal and external customer service.

Performance Metrics

Performance metrics for this position will be established annually based on accuracy and timeliness of work, meeting deadlines.

Key Outcomes Expected

  • Key assistance to the Director of Accounting with the following:
    1. Overseeing financial procedures, records, and statements for compliance with laws and regulations
    2. Revenue projections and forecasting expenditures
    3. Preparation and monitoring budgets
    4. Preparation for audits (annually or otherwise)
    5. Maintaining general ledger
    6. Managing fixed assets
  • Apply broad knowledge of advanced accounting methods and procedures.
  • Analyze financial statements and reports to ensure compliance, while investigating discrepancies and issues of non-compliance
  • Analyze and summarize account information and trends.
  • Investigate and resolve audit findings, discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
  • Perform Month-End/Year-End closing activities and reporting at the direction of the Director of Accounting
  • Reconcile monthly accounts to ensure accuracy of data reporting and general ledger maintenance.
  • Recommend ways to enhance departmental efficiency, reduce costs and enhance revenue.
  • Contribute to the creation of new accounting systems, programs and processes that reduce inefficiencies.

Ÿ Oversee credit reports for submittal to Director of Accounting for evaluation.

  • Perform other accounting duties as to support the entire accounting team as required or assigned.

    6. Ability to train/manage staff and departmental processes and procedures.

Experience, Education,
Degrees, Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance related field is required.
  • 3 years of Senior level accounting experience
  • Previous experience in the logistics industry preferred.

Physical Demands

Must be able to work proficiently with computers and other office equipment. Will sit at workstation 90% of time.

Work is performed in an office environment.
