Your attention to detail and technical expertise will ensure the accuracy and completeness of documentation reflecting the installed fiber optic infrastructure within the outside plant network. By meticulously updating and organizing drawings, you will contribute to the efficient operation and maintenance of telecommunications services provided to customers, integrating construction as-built experience into the documentation process.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough field surveys to document the construction, installation, and configuration of fiber optic cables, splice enclosures, termination points, and related equipment in the outside plant network, incorporating construction as-built data.
  2. Translate field sketches, notes, and photographs into detailed, formal as-built drawings using Adobe PDF, Microsoft Excel, computer-aided design (CAD) software, or other appropriate tools, integrating construction details accurately.
  3. Ensure that as-built drawings accurately reflect the current layout, routing, and connectivity of the fiber optic network, including any deviations from the original design and any additions or modifications made during installation, incorporating construction changes.
  4. Incorporate relevant information and annotations into the drawings, such as fiber counts, splice locations, cable routes, equipment specifications, and any other pertinent details necessary for understanding the network configuration, with added focus on construction details.
  5. Collaborate closely with field technicians, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to verify the accuracy of information and resolve discrepancies or ambiguities in the field documentation, with emphasis on integrating construction as-built experience.
  6. Adhere to established drafting standards, company guidelines, and industry best practices for creating clear, organized, and professional-quality drawings suitable for submission to customers and regulatory authorities, integrating construction standards.
  7. Review and revise drawings as needed based on feedback, change orders, or updates to the fiber optic network, ensuring that all revisions are accurately documented and properly communicated to relevant parties, incorporating construction changes efficiently.
  8. Maintain organized records, files, and archives of as-built drawings, ensuring accessibility and traceability for future reference, audits, or maintenance activities, including comprehensive records of construction as-built data.
  9. Provide support and assistance to customer-facing teams by supplying accurate and up-to-date documentation as requested, with integrated construction as-built information.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training in drafting, CAD, or a related field preferred.
  2. Proven experience in drafting, design, or documentation within the telecommunications or fiber optic industry, with a focus on outside plant infrastructure preferred, including experience with construction as-built data.
  3. Proficiency in using Adobe PDF, Microsoft Excel, computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD or MicroStation, to create and modify technical drawings with precision and clarity, integrating construction details.
  4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in interpreting field notes, sketches, and photographs and translating them into formal drawings with clear annotations and specifications, with added focus on construction accuracy.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly and concisely, including construction-related details.
  6. Familiarity with fiber optic network components, terminology, and industry standards, including TIA/EIA standards and OSP construction guidelines, with understanding of construction as-built requirements.
  7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities and deadlines, and adapt to changing project requirements or priorities, including handling construction-related tasks efficiently.
  8. Commitment to quality, professionalism, and continuous improvement in all aspects of work, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues or opportunities for enhancement, including improvements in integrating construction as-built experience into documentation processes.
