The Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester is located alongside the Erie Canal in Brighton and is a 200,000 square foot facility that houses our state-of-the-art fitness, wellness and recreation programming, an aquatics center, a Professional Theatre (live stream), Children’s Center and our Premier Camping Program.

We pride ourselves on providing our members with quality educational, cultural arts and social programming, and we are an inclusive community center that welcomes people of all faiths, backgrounds, and ages.
We are looking for a full-time Housekeeping Supervisor to lead our evening crew and ensure the facility is clean and sanitized for all our members, guests and staff. Additionally responsible for safety and security for nightly building closure.
Full-time Housekeeping Supervisor Evening Hours:
Monday-Thursday 6:15 pm to 2:45 am
Sunday 3:00 pm-11:30 pm


We are looking for a full-time Housekeeping Supervisor to lead our evening crew and ensure the facility is clean and sanitized for all our members, guests and staff. Additionally responsible for safety and security for nightly building closure.

  • Direct, train and coach the Housekeeping Team to promote teamwork and to achieve scheduled tasks
  • Ensure building security during evening hours and upon building close – verify building is vacated, doors are secure, etc.
  • Manage team to consistently follow safety housekeeping practices and procedures
  • Collaborate with Housekeeping Manager to implement routes and duty lists as a key element of managing the responsibilities and output
  • Work with Housekeeping Manager to delegate staff assignments and ensure coverage by managing performance, time-off and overtime.
  • Work with Housekeeping Manager to coordinate/provide orientation, initial training, and ongoing education for the team.
  • Respond to concerns and requests from managers, colleagues, members, partners) with a sense of urgency, prompt action and timely follow-up.
  • Ensure that proper supply control guidelines are followed, and the team is trained in the use of all chemicals.
  • Maintain appropriate open and consistent communication to effectively direct performance, guide and address concerns for team.
  • Hold disciplinary conversations and deliver progressive disciplinary documentation, as needed, working closely with the Housekeeping Manager and the Human Resources team.
  • Provide hands-on cleaning, as needed, to cover for staff absences and support special events (cleaning bathrooms, shower stalls, empty trash, sweep/vacuum/mop/scrub/wash floors, wash mirrors/windows, etc.)

  • Able to read and understand Material Data Safety Sheets; explain key points to team
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and initiative to set an example and build teamwork
  • Dependable leader able to work the evening/late night shift
  • Detail-focus and a keen-eye for ensuring thoroughness
  • Safety and security minded
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directly manage the evening/night Housekeeping Team
Education: Select one required & one preferred
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Experience:
  • 2 years’ experience in housekeeping preferred
  • 1 year supervision experience
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Payroll Systems
Physical Requirements:
  • Extensive work while standing, extensive walking, reaching with hands and arms, grasping and twisting, climbing and balance
  • Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
  • Bending and moving continually during working hours
  • Frequently lift or carry up to 20 lbs.;
  • Occasionally lift or carry more than 20 lbs.;
  • Frequently walk up and down flights of stairs;
  • Occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally work long hours; ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Frequently use computer and keyboard
  • Occasional use of ladders

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to dust.
  • Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
