Position Description:

Trinity Valley School seeks a full-time Physical Education Teacher/Girls Volleyball Program Director and Head Coach (Multi-sports) to join the TVS faculty beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.

Coaches will model hard work, leadership, and a growth mindset. Collaboration with all constituent groups at the School is essential as the program offers community building for students, families, faculty, and staff.

The Physical Education Teacher/Varsity Head Coach will report to the Athletic Director and will prioritize relationship building with colleagues, students, and their families. This position will work closely with the leadership team of the department which includes the Director of Athletics & PE, Associate Athletic Director, Middle School Athletic Director, and the PE Department Chair. Successful candidates will embrace the mission and values of the School and be willing to act as a representative of TVS in the Fort Worth community.

Coaching Responsibilities:

  • Abiding by the rules and regulations established by TVS and the Southwest Preparatory Conference. (spcsports.org)
  • Working closely with the Director of Athletics and Athletic leadership team.
  • Positively encouraging, training, and coaching the participants of each assigned sport.
  • Instructing players in the rules, regulations, and techniques of the sport.
  • Implementing sound offensive, defensive, and special team strategies to build competitive teams.
  • Role modeling good sportsmanship and maintaining appropriate conduct toward athletes, officials, and spectators.
  • Scheduling and organizing effective practice sessions.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Athletics on hiring, retention, evaluation, and professional development of coaching staff.
  • Scheduling games in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and Scheduling Coordinator.
  • Working collegially with fellow coaches and Athletic Department staff.
  • Coordinating summer coaching/playing opportunities and camp selection with players (and families).
  • Working closely with the College Counseling office in the recruitment/placement of players.
  • Representing TVS and the Athletic program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship.
  • Generating additional support of the program throughout the greater TVS community and through building connections with Lower School, Middle School, students, and families.
  • Coaching sports in two additional seasons (i.e., head coach, assistant coach, Middle School, or Upper School).
  • Remain well versed coaching concepts and continuously seek resources to improve practices and team performance.
  • Collaborating with the TVS Director of Transportation to schedule and complete your physical and ESC Region 11 Bus Driver certification prior to the start of coaching duties.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Teaching physical education in the Lower School and Middle School.
  • Working cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning and implementing a comprehensive physical education program and curriculum.
  • Establishing and maintaining standards of excellence for supervision and student engagement.
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers and administration as needed regarding social, emotional, and physical development of students.
  • Maintaining flexibility in a wide variety of settings and shared facilities.
  • Working under the supervision of the PE Department Chair and the Director of Athletics/Physical Education.
  • Serve on committees, help with admission events, attend faculty meetings, and collaborate with faculty and staff.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

The ideal candidate will

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years demonstrated success coaching girls volleyball at the varsity high school level or above, as an AAU head coach, JV/Varsity head coach, collegiate or professional coach.
  • Have experience coaching multiple sports at a competitive level.
  • Support fully the four main objectives of theTVS Mission Statement.

  • Exemplify personal and professional integrity.
  • Work collaboratively with all TVS employees.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills, organizational, technological, and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a strong commitment to the multi-sport student-athlete concept.
  • Successfully complete CPR and TVS employee required training.
  • Possess or obtain valid Texas driver's license and pass motor vehicle records search.
