Job Description

The company has an immediate opening for a qualified individual to work as project manager in the ship repair industry. Individuals with a desire to advance within an organization, that self-describe themselves as "over achievers" will go far in this organization. Selected individuals will have the following qualifications:

1. Experience in the ship repair industry, either while in the military or as a civilian. Experience working with or for the local shipyards and bases is a plus. 

2.Qualified candidate will have extensive knowledge of and experience with all welding, fitting, mechanical and electrical shipboard systems.

3. 6 years or more of supervisory experience with shipboard management of projects involving the operation, maintenance, repair, testing, modification, upgrading, installation and alteration of commercial or naval vessel and small craft systems.

4. The qualified candidate will have extensive experience with managing NAVSEA contracts including being proficient with NAVSEA standard items.  

5. The ideal candidate will have experience working with contractors who service and repair systems onboard naval vessels and must be able to manage a diverse workforce comprised of technicians, craftsmen and laborers. The selected candidates will have the ability to work in a shipboard environment and must possess advanced computer skills, to include proficiency with the Microsoft suite of business tools - especially MS Project and NMD.

6. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator when dealing with other contractors, government officials and shipboard officers.  

7. Qualified candidates will have advanced skills with the following:

a. Time Management

b. Schedule adherence

c. Budget adherence

d. Blueprint reading in all areas including structural, pipe, electrical, mechanical and sheet-metal

e. All NAVSEA Standard Items

f. Quality Assurance Standards including ISO 9001-2015, Mil-Standard 1689 and Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual

g. Reading and interpreting work specs and contract requirements

h. Reporting including IDRs, CFRs, PODs, TIRs, TIPs, CARs, etc. 

8. All candidates must be US citizens in order to access certain shipyards and all bases.  All candidates must be able to undergo and successfully pass US government background security checks.  All candidates must be able to withstand the daily rigors of shipboard work.
